Texas does not like Obama. Over 2/3rds of Texas Republicans want Obama impeached. More surprising though is even a large number of Texas Democrats and Blacks want him impeached!
Texas Congressman Steve Stockman made national news early in 2013 when he
declared that he would try to block funding
of any Obama unconstitutional gun control executive orders, and that
they would be grounds for Congressman Stockman to file impeachment
papers against President Obama.
The following info by Noel Sheppard from NewsBusters:
If Democrats are serious about trying to turn Texas blue, they should
get a gander at a just-released poll of Lone Star State voters that
found 67 percent of Republican respondents support the impeachment of
President Obama.
Of greater concern for liberals: the poll was conducted by the left-leaning Public Policy Polling.
As a whole, Texans opposed impeachment 50 percent to 39 percent.
But in the crosstabs, PPP broke this down by party affiliation with
Democrats opposed 83 percent to 12 percent, Republicans in favor 67
percent to 18 percent, and Independents opposed 54 percent to 32
percent.
Amazing that even 12 percent of Democrats support impeachment.
Also interesting was the racial breakdown concerning this issue with
Whites supporting impeachment 48 percent to 41 percent, Blacks opposed
80 percent to 15 percent, and Hispanics opposed 58 percent to 30
percent.
Again, it's amazing that even 15 percent of Blacks would support his impeachment.
It was also fascinating to see the breakdown by age as people older
than 65 supported impeachment 46 percent to 38 percent, folks 46 to 65
opposed 46 percent to 42 percent, and people 18 to 45 opposed 66 percent
to 27 percent.
So in Texas, the older you are, the more likely you want Obama impeached.
Something else to consider is that 56 percent of respondents were women with 44 percent men.
As women were far more likely to oppose impeachment (53 percent to 36
percent) than men (46 percent to 41 percent), a more equal sampling of
the sexes would have found a greater percentage of Texans supporting
impeachment.

Gov. Perry Proposes Giving Excess Tax Revenue back to Texas Residents as refund
When the government gets more tax revenue than the budget needs, they just find other things to spend it on.
Not Texas Governor Rick Perry!
Governor Perry has proposed amending the State Constitution to allow the State to give excess tax revenue back to the people of Texas.
read more below
from Fox News:
AUSTIN, Texas – Gov. Rick Perry will use his State of the State address to call for amending the Texas Constitution to allow the state to return tax money it collects but doesn't spend back to its citizens, according to an excerpt of the speech released to The Associated Press.
Perry, who is scheduled to deliver the speech Tuesday morning to a joint session of the Legislature, will tell lawmakers that he has "never bought into the notion that if you collect more, you need to spend more."
"Today, I'm calling for a mechanism to be put in place so when we do bring in more than we need, we'll have the option of returning tax money directly to the people who paid it," the governor plans to say. "Currently, that's not something our constitution allows. We need to fix that."
The Republican has for weeks called on the Legislature to cut taxes and continue to hold down government spending -- even though Texas' economy is booming. He'll also use the speech to give a specific dollar amount he'd like to see in tax reductions.
Proposing a constitutional amendment requires two-thirds support of both the Texas House and Senate, and it then must be approved by a majority of voters. Republicans control both chambers of the Legislature but would need Democrats to get two-thirds support -- something that seems highly unlikely.
While he has made cutting taxes his chief mantra since lawmakers headed back into session on Jan. 8, calls to limit government spending are nothing new for Perry. Last April, he unveiled a "budget compact" that proposed a constitutional amendment limiting state spending increases to only enough to cover the cost of population growth and inflation. That issue hasn't yet been taken up the Legislature.

1/29/2013 - TEXAS STATE CAPITOL - Gov. Rick Perry delivered his State of the State address to the 83rd Texas Legislature, highlighting our state's strong economic outlook, and outlining his priorities to keep Texas on an upward trajectory. He called on the Legislature to provide at least $1.8 billion in tax relief, invest in the state's water and transportation infrastructure and improve access and choice in both public and higher education, including providing South Texas access to the Permanent University Fund. Was Assault Weapons/Rifle NOT Used at Sandy Hook School Shooting? Connecticut State Police Clarify
the following article is from Bob Price posted on TexasGOPvote:
The debate over gun control in our country has spawned many rumors in relation to the weapons used at Sandy Hook Elementary. Many blogs and other forums are reporting that the weapon removed from the shooter's vehicle was the AR-15 and this was not used in the shooting. On Friday, January 18th, the Connecticut State Police issued a press release (see text below) about this issue and confirmed the Bushmaster was found inside the school.
I
contacted the CT State Police for further clarification. Lt. Paul Vance
told me the Bushmaster was, in fact, fired inside the school and used
to kill all 26 people who died that day.
I asked Vance about the magazine capacity of the handguns that were found inside the school. He said he did not have that information, but confirmed that the shooter had numerous magazines with him inside the school.
It was very clear in speaking with him that they are frustrated with the rumors about this case and the manipulation of the tragedy for political purposes by both sides of the gun control debate. There was obvious pain in his voice reflecting of the exposure to the carnage of the crime scene experienced by all who responded to the scene of this crime and those who continue to investigate the details.
Many of the rumors began after NBC aired a video showing a weapon being removed from the shooter's vehicle after the shooting. It was mistakenly identified as the AR-15. When you watch the video closely, the weapon is very hard to distinguish. There is a brief glimpse of a pistol grip which may have led to the speculation of it being the Bushmaster.
Sandy Hook was a painful tragedy by any measure. For the left to use this as a tool to prosecute a political agenda long held by the Obama Administration is wrong. For the right to spread rumors that cause pain for those involved directly is also wrong.
For better or worse, we will now be engaged in a debate about what to change in relation to preventing firearm violence. Whether the shooter used an AR-15 or handguns or a baseball bat is irrelevant. The issue is the killer, not the weapon. Let's try to move forward with facts and compassion for the victims of these horrible crimes. Let's find the real reason why people suddenly turn violent and look for ways to kill themselves and others. And let's treat criminals as criminals and not take away rights of Americans who have not committed any crimes.

Saiga -12 Semi-Automatic Shotgun
Bushmaster XM15-E2S
However,
if you continue to look closely at the barrel, you will see it does not
look like an AR-15 style rifle. It is a longer barrel much like a
shotgun or hunting rifle. Vance confirmed with me it was a tactical
shotgun. Their press release identifies it as a "Canta-12", but this is
also not correct. It is actually a Saiga-12, manufactured by the Russian
company Izhmash. "Canta" comes from the Russian spelling "САЙГА".Sandy Hook was a painful tragedy by any measure. Outrage Growing over Obama Cutting Homeland Security U.S. Border Air Defense System (TARS)
Texas Conservative Republican News
David Bellow Exclusive Story
Outrage is growing over news that Obama’s military cuts are going to impact our own homeland security by forcing the Air Force to close a vital air defense system along the ENTIRE southern border of the United States from Florida to California. Word is spreading like a wildfire on the internet and there is even a White House Petition to keep the Defense System.
This air defense system is known as TARS (Tethered Aerostat Radar System) and this system protects the southern border of the United States of America by detecting and monitoring low altitude aircraft, and even low altitude missiles.
I originally broke this story a couple of weeks ago by posting this article: Obama Closing Air Defense System on U.S./Mexico Border: Texas & America Vulnerable to Attack from Low Altitude Missiles and Aircraft
Since that original article, there have been tens of thousands of people who have viewed the article and passed the article on to others. Word quickly spread across the internet about the issue, from trunews.com to ReaganCoalition.com to infowars.com
People are simply outraged that Obama is cutting a vital security system on our most dangerous border. At a time when there is human sex slave trafficking, gun running, cartel violence, and terror threats infiltrating, or attempting to infiltrate, our southern border, why is Obama making cuts to protecting the southern border? Instead of continuing to protect Americans from these threats, Obama is declaring that anyone with a low flying plane can now sneak into America undetected. Obama already made a widespread drawn down of National Guard troops on the southern border a couple of years ago. The troop draw down, although it should not have happened, could at least somewhat be justified by saying that there are now more border patrol agents on the border to take their place. NOTHING can justify Obama shutting down this air defense system though. Extra border patrol agents cannot do anything to detect/monitor and relay info directly to NORAD and the Air Force when there is a low flying aircraft coming into America with possibly weapons, terrorists, human sex slaves.
Congressmen and Senators have NO idea that Obama is Closing this Air Defense System
Keep contacting your Congressman and Senators and demand that this Air Defense System not be cut! The pressure you are putting on them is starting to have an effect.
Several Congressional and Senatorial Offices (including Congressman Steve Stockman and Congressman Randy Neugebauer and Senator Ted Cruz) have already been contacted regarding this issue and there is a recurring theme. The recurring theme is that they were NEVER informed of this closing by the Air Force and that they are going to have to contact the Department of Defense to find out what is going on.
Why would Obama try to keep this on the down-low and not inform the legislative branch about this border security shutdown? The reason that Obama is keeping quiet about this issue is because he does not want the American people to know that he is actually willing to put Americans at risk with his budget cuts. Obama does not want people to know that our own homeland security will be jeopardized because of his budget cuts forcing the hand of the Air Force to cut important defense programs.
White House “We The People Petition” Created to Protect U.S. Border and Keeps TARS Air Defense. The petition asks Obama to Keep the Tethered Aerostat Radar System Operational in order to help secure the Southern Border of the United States. I don’t know who started this petition but it seems like a good idea to bring awareness, even if Obama probably doesn’t give a darn about these White House petitions and probably puts your name on a list of people who do not support him. I am already on his black list though I am sure so I do not care if he sees me sign the petition, and it looks good/gets more attention in the media to have alot of people sign the petition.
For the most part, the response to my original article about this issue has been very positive. There has been at least one leftist who has attacked me over the issue…
Liberal Blogger attacks Conservative Blogger David Bellow for Demanding that Obama Protects the Southern Border and Not Shut Down the TARS Air Defense System
A left leaning blog, Grits for Breakfast, wrote an article attacking me on this border security/air defense issue. Several people came to my defense and left comments at the bottom of my article disputing what Grits was saying, but just for kicks, I will also dispute what Grits is saying so that all the other libs out there do not make his same mistake.
First, Grits for Breakfast says that as a conservative I should be happy about this program getting cut and we should trust that the Air Force is cutting it because it needs cut. What Grits does not understand is that conservatives are not against government spending. We are just against the out of control government spending on mostly entitlement programs and things the federal government does not need to spend our tax dollars on. One thing the Federal government is actually supposed to do, per the United States Constitution, is to protect America. So yes, as a conservative, I am ok with the federal government spending my tax dollars efficiently to do what they are supposed to do, like protecting the vulnerable borders of our sovereign nation. And as far as the Air Force thinking this program needs to be cut, well, we both know that the Air Force does not think this program needs to be cut. The Air Force is forced to cut programs because Obama has drastically cut the military and that means even important military programs are getting cut. Think about this, if this air defense program was not important, then why, to this day, does the Air Force send surveillance planes in the air to fill in when any Tethered Aerostat Radar goes down for maintenance. If the Aerostats were not important then the planes would not be needed to fill in for what the TARS system does when the TARS system is down for maintenance.
Second, Grits says that our State Troopers and Border Patrol do enough to protect our Texas border. This just shows that Grits really does not even know what the TARS program does. First of all, Texas State Troopers are on the ground and do not have radars all along the border to detect possible AIR infiltrations up to 200 miles BEFORE they even get to the border. Second, Grits only thinks this TARS system is on the Texas Border. This TARS system is on the entire southern border and even the Coast Guard in Puerto Rico and Florida (you know, by Cuba) uses it (no State Troopers there), not to mention that the TARS info is sent directly to places like NORAD and the Western Air Defense Sector which will scramble jets to react to a threat to out borders.

Stockman, Paul introduce bills to overturn Obama executive orders, invalidate Gun orders, ‘restore the Constitution’
According to Texas on the Potomac, Congressman Steve Stockman and Senator Rand Paul have filed bills which would block any Executive Order that violates the U.S. constitution.
Stockman’s ‘Restore the Constitution Act’ is a House companion to Sen. Paul’s ‘Separation of Powers Restoration and Second Amendment Protection Act,’ which was introduced in the Senate.
Stockman made national news early in 2013 when he declared that he would try to block funding of any Obama unconstitutional gun control executive orders, and that they would be grounds for Congressman Stockman to file impeachment papers against President Obama.

TX REP. STEVE TOTH FILES HB 760 (CSCOPE TRANSPARENCY ACT) TO ENSURE OVERSIGHT OF SCHOOL CURRICULUM
Also see:
the following statement is from new Conservative Texas State Representative Steve Toth regarding his bill to stop the liberal indoctrination curriculum in Texas known as CSCOPE:
STATE REPRESENTATIVE STEVE TOTH FILES HB 760 TO ENSURE CONSISTENT OVERSIGHT OF PUBLIC SCHOOL CURRICULUM
Austin, TX- State Representative Steve Toth (R- The Woodlands) filed HB 760 today in a joint effort with other law makers and constituents to ensure that e-learning (on-line or cloud based teaching material) curriculum used in public schools falls under the oversight and approval of the State Board of Education. Many of Representative Toth's constituents have a growing concern over the lack of accountability for the Texas Education Service Center Curriculum Collaborative, also known as CSCOPE. CSCOPE does not fall under the same oversight and approval as other printed materials because of its digital format. HB 760 would bring the digitized materials under the same publicly vetted process through the State Board of Education adoption process. To this date, CSCOPE has not gone through the intense Texas textbook adoption process in which public hearings are held and factual errors are documented, discussed, and verified.
CSCOPE is in use by over 70% of Texas public schools. The curriculum suffers from two main areas, transparency and accountability. The most important problem is the lack of quality teaching material. "I had one teacher call me and said that she had met with five other math teachers. They were all looking at the same math-word problem and the disappointing thing is that they came up with 6 different and very defensible answers." Representative Toth continued, "teachers live in fear not only of the problematic errors but also in fear of mistakenly sharing with a parent what's being taught in CSCOPE. Teachers are actually forced to sign non-disclosure agreements before they use it in the classroom. Why? Because the Education Service Centers know how angry parents would be to hear that the participants in the Boston Tea Party of 1773 are referred to as Terrorists by CSCOPE and that's just the beginning".
Other factual errors found throughout the curriculum have not been corrected and have been used to teach millions of children faulty math, reading, science, and history. Educators who sign a non-disclosure agreement are forced to administer poor tests which force good educators to either put up with the bad curriculum or quit altogether.
Algebra teacher, Dr. Stan Hartzler of Luling ISD was quoted, "As good testing motivates and informs good students and teachers, so too bad testing discourages everyone and that's the problem with CSCOPE."
"Dr. Hartzler is the kind of man we want and need in the classroom, but he can't fight CSCOPE any longer so he left teaching. Great teachers should be free to make truth come alive in the hearts and minds of our youth rather than handcuffing them to a failed product. HB 760 moves to correct this problem" , said Representative Toth.
Thomas Jefferson said "If a nation expects to be ignorant & free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be". We cannot afford to cripple the next generations by overlooking the education of our children. Please stand with me by contacting your Elected Officials and asking them to support HB 760 for our children.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz Statement on Immigration Reform Proposal
WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) issued the following statement regarding today’s bipartisan immigration reform proposal:
I appreciate the good work that senators in both parties have put into trying to fix our broken immigration system. There are some good elements in this proposal, especially increasing the resources and manpower to secure our border and also improving and streamlining legal immigration. However, I have deep concerns with the proposed path to citizenship. To allow those who came here illegally to be placed on such a path is both inconsistent with rule of law and profoundly unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who waited years, if not decades, to come to America legally.
Tax Code Needs Reformed: Prison Inmates getting MILLIONS from IRS each year in Fraudulent Tax Returns
from the Virginian-Pilot:
The number of bogus returns filed from prison jumped from 18,000 in 2004 to 91,000
in 2010 to 173,000 in 2012, according to a recent report by the inspector general's
office at the Treasury Department.
The report, which primarily focused on 2010 returns, found that $758 million worth
of fraudulent refunds were claimed that year - double the dollar amount in 2009.
According to the inspectors, $35 million was paid on the 2010 returns before they
were discovered to be fake.
The trend isn't improving. In 2012, the inspectors found that the IRS stopped $2.5
billion worth of fraudulent refunds - with $1.1 billion of that from two especially
ambitious prisoners. No figure was provided on how much was refunded last year
before the IRS learned something was amiss.
Texas Dad Arrested for Asking School About Shooting Safety Plans - Celina ISD
This Texas Dad might have gone about things the wrong way when he went into the school office and asked them what they would do if he had a gun. He should NOT be charged with making terroristic threats though. He was clearly not threatening anyone. He is just a dad, who like the rest of America, is worried about the safety of their children in school. He wanted to find out if his school had a plan to keep his kid safe if there was a gunman. Again, he probably got a little upset and out of hand, but he should not go to jail for what he did. To be honest, I think the school should answer the question. What would you do if someone started shooting? The answer is nothing. They can't do anything because they do not have guns to shoot back with....

CELINA, Texas –– A parent in Celina ISD has been charged with making terroristic threats at his child's school. Police say Ron Miller, who was unarmed, told Celina Elementary School staffers that he had a gun to test the school's security response on Wednesday morning.
"Basically, he told one of the greeters, 'I am a gunman. My target is inside of the building. I'm going in the building. You stop me,'" said Celina Independent School District superintendent Donny O'Dell. "They recognized, at that point, that he did not have a weapon and they were able to go ahead and tell him to leave."
The principal at the school called administrators, who then called police. O'Dell said they did not use 911, but called the department's non-emergency number. The superintendent said it was because Miller, 44, was "immediately" recognized as a parent and volunteer.
"After he left, there was no imminent threat for a lockdown and for teachers and kiddos to be locked in the classrooms," O'Dell said. " We found some glitches…some things we need to work on. Of course, none of this ever takes place when you expect it to, so human response to certain situations is not always perfect because we're not perfect."
The school greeter who Miller approached was not equipped with a radio to report the incident to the office.
Miller, a paramedic with Careflight, was not home and did not respond to a request for comment. Parents seem disappointed in his actions but sympathetic to his intention: to keep kids safe.
"I think it was poor judgment, absolutely poor judgment," said Jennifer Thomas, a parent at Celina. "If he only knew what he was doing to parents in this community. I wish he hadn't have done it."
Some also question why no one called 911 and why the school was not locked down, especially after the shooting massacre at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.
"I feel the steps should have been taken and it should have been my choice on whether or not I picked my kid up early," said Abby Hall, another parent.
Miller was arrested Wednesday night and charged with terroristic threats, a third degree felony. He posted $75,000 bond and was released from the Collin County Jail on Thursday.http://www.kvue.com/news/Texas-dad-arrested-after-testing-schools-safety-response-in-rogue-manner-186534421.html

Those airport scanners that leave nothing to the imagination are being scrapped by the Transportation Security Administration.
The agency is ending a contract with Rapiscan Systems, which manufactures the scanners which produce a naked image of travelers who pass through them. Privacy rights activists have complained that the scanners, first rolled out in 2007, constitute a virtual strip search. The TSA plans to continue using a scanner that is considered less invasive, and which makes a generic image that has been likened to a cartoon, or stick figure, yet highlights potential foreign objects on the traveler's body.
The TSA says the X-ray scanners will be gone by June because Rapiscan was not able to come up with a software fix to make the scanners comply with a Congressional mandate that the scanners better protect passenger privacy. Opponents of full-body scanners argue that strip searches without probable cause violate basic human rights. Governments do not have the right to make strip searches routine and mandatory, regardless of whether the strip search is done by physically removing clothes or by using technological means to remove the clothes.
“Due to its inability to deploy non-imaging Automated Target Recognition (ATR) software by the Congressionally-mandated June 2013 deadline, TSA has terminated its contract with Rapiscan," the agency said on its website. "By June 2013 travelers will only see machines which have ATR that allow for faster throughput. This means faster lanes for the traveler and enhanced security. As always, use of this technology is optional.”
In November, TSA officials told a Congressional committee the agency had spent $40 million on the nude-image Rapiscan machines and another $100 million on the less invasive model which will continue to be used. In all, the TSA has about 800 machines in operation at 200 airports.
Advocates say the naked body scanners machines are efficient at spotting threats and are much faster than administering strip searches. But they have also generated complaints from critics who say the X-ray exposure they subject passengers to could be a health risk. The European Union last year banned the use of backscatter scanners at European airports over health concerns.
"While TSA has told the public that the amount of radiation emitted from these machines is small, passengers and some scientific experts have raised questions about the impact of repeated exposure to this radiation," said Sen. Susan Collins (r-Maine), last month.

Dirty Harry Reid Attempted to Expand Gambling in Texas
article from Empower Texans:
Dirty Harry Reid Attempted to Expand Gambling in Texas
Reid is a likely candidate for the title of “Gambling’s Best Friend,” though he’d certainly have competition if he came down to Texas for a bit. This effort, while it ultimately went nowhere, does reinforce the idea that Washington’s increasing animosity towards Texans doesn’t stop at gun control and the Voting Rights Act. Reid is the senior senator from a state in significantly worse financial shape than Texas, where last year the unemployment rate at one point was the worst in the nation, and the housing market was too terrible to allow citizens to flee easily. The climate in Reid’s home state needs attention, and he was more interested in pursuing legalizing gambling in Texas. The question to ask is, why?
It isn’t likely that Reid’s attempt was serious – it happened mostly under the radar and someone with Reid’s political power in Washington wouldn’t have a hard time passing something he was actually passionate about. So what was it, then? More than likely, a test balloon of sorts for expanding state-sponsored (in this case, tribe-sponsored) gambling where it is not already prevalent, and possibly a fundraising mechanism for gambling proponents here at home. Certainly, had it gained traction, such legislation would come up against Texas law and create an interesting impasse.
We know state-sponsored gambling proponents are hard at work in Texas. Just today, Let Texans Decide announced the support of several local chambers of commerce, in their effort to bring forward a constitutional amendment to approve gambling in Texas (Jan Shedd wrote about Let Texans Decide back in November). Remember, a Texas constitutional amendment, while requiring a 2/3 majority in both legislative chambers, is not subject to gubernatorial veto and goes straight to Texans for a vote, and the pass rate of such amendments is quite high due in large part to voter apathy and lack of education. Such an amendment is folly from the start, and the Legislature is the first line of defense.
It is definitely something fiscal conservatives should concern themselves with. This is not about the freedom to gamble, and it isn’t about personal responsibility. It’s about a fiscal boondoggle that could seriously harm local economies and ultimately lay a significant burden on several portions of the state’s budget (Health and Human Services, Department of Public Safety, and more). Reid’s bill had the added bonus of laying those problems on Native American tribes (notwithstanding tribes’ stance on the issue, the problems with government-sponsored gambling remain). Texans cannot let their attention be divided from this issue.
(P.S. – Contact Senator Reid and tell him “hands off” Texas. Under no circumstances should this issue resurface in Washington)
Dirty Harry Reid Attempted to Expand Gambling in Texas
January 17, 2013 by Michele Samuelson
How’s this for obnoxious interference? Nevada Senator Harry Reid, the Democrat majority leader and all-around annoying stooge, attempted to pass legislation in December to allow Native American tribes to open casinos in Texas. Politico posted the story a couple of days ago. The bill was mercifully killed by lack of action, but the audacity certainly stings.Reid is a likely candidate for the title of “Gambling’s Best Friend,” though he’d certainly have competition if he came down to Texas for a bit. Senator Cruz on Meet the Press: No Gun Show Loophole, Restrictions Unconstitutional
the following message is from the Ted Cruz Senate Press Office via email:
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Meet the Press:
GUNS
"You know, there actually isn’t the so-called “Gun Show Loophole.” That doesn’t exist. Any licensed firearm dealer who sells at a gun show has to have a background check. It’s a requirement that applies to every licensed firearm dealer. What it doesn’t apply to is personal sales one-on-one. And that’s true whether it’s at a gun show or not."
"I do think there is a fundamental point here, and there is a point of hypocrisy when it comes to gun control. That many of the proponents of gun control are very wealthy, live in communities where they can outsource police protection, but you have a lot of people that are worried about preserving the safety of their own home.
"If you’re talking to a single woman living in Anacostia who has the misfortune to live next to a crack-house to tell he she doesn’t have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms I think is fundamentally wrong."
"What I don’t think is constructive is what the President is doing right now. Which is within minutes of that horrible tragedy in Newtown, the President began trying to exploit that tragedy to push a gun control agenda that is designed to appeal to partisans – designed to appeal to his political partisans.
"Number one, it would have done zero to prevent the crime in Newtown. Number two, many of the provisions are contrary to the constitutional protection of the Second Amendment. Number three, they don’t work.
"You know, Chuck said a minute ago the assault weapons ban was tremendously successful. The assault weapons ban was one of the least successful bills that has ever been put in place. And in fact, when the ban expired there were roughly 700 murders using all rifles. Today there are roughly 300. There are less than half. This is not designed to actually solve the problem of violent crime, this is designed to assuage liberal partisans who want to push gun control."
DEBT
"There is no doubt the Senate hasn’t done its job. It’s been nearly four years since it’s passed a budget and the Senate should pass a budget…We have a crisis. I’ll tell ya, I just got back last week from Afghanistan, and I had multiple service men and women clasp me on the arm and say, “Please do something about the debt a deficit. We’re bankrupting the country.
"That’s what the American people are looking for, and to date, politicians from both parties have been unwilling to take even a tiny step in the right direction. We gotta fix the problem."
"There was an area of substantial agreement with what Chuck just said. He said we should never, ever, ever compromise the full faith and credit of the United States. I agree. And in fact, there is a bill that I am cosponsoring, the Full Faith and Credit Act which provides that regardless of what happens in the Debt Ceiling, the United States will always, always, always meet its debt. We will never default on its debt.
"That was introduced in 2010. It didn’t pass because Harry Reid and President Obama didn’t want it to pass. They wanted to raise the specter of a default …
So Chuck, you know, you and I, we could make news right now on national television. Would you agree to support the Full Faith and Credit Act and take the possibility of a default off the table?
…
"Let me ask a very simple question. A bill that says regardless of what happens with the debt ceiling, the United States will never default on the debt. Would you support that or not?"

Federal Court: Obama Union appointments to labor panel bypassing Senate are unconstitutional
Obama bypassing Senate confirmation to appoint pro-union guys to the National Labor Relations Board has been ruled UNCONSTITUTIONAL in a unanimous D.C. Federal Court Opinion
from Fox News:
WASHINGTON – President Obama violated the Constitution when he bypassed the Senate to fill vacancies on a labor relations panel, a federal appeals court panel ruled Friday.
A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit said that Obama did not have the power to make three recess appointments last year to the National Labor Relations Board.
The unanimous decision is an embarrassing setback for the president, who made the appointments after Senate Republicans spent months blocking his choices for an agency they contended was biased in favor of unions.
The ruling also throws into question Obama's recess appointment of Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Cordray's appointment, also made under the recess circumstance, has been challenged in a separate case.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz Statement on Sen. Feinstein’s Assault Weapons Ban of 2013
From the office of
U.S. SEN. TED CRUZ (R-TX)
For immediate release:
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz Statement on Sen. Feinstein’s Assault Weapons Ban of 2013
WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) today issued the following statement regarding Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) Assault Weapons Ban of 2013:
Washington politicians shouldn’t be taking advantage of recent tragedy to try to push an aggressive gun control agenda. Real assault weapons—machine guns—are already functionally illegal, and they have been since 1934. This proposal would have done nothing to prevent the terrible murders in Newtown, but it would limit the constitutional liberties of law-abiding citizens. And gun control doesn’t work – the empirical data overwhelmingly demonstrate that strict gun-control laws consistently produce more crime and more murders.
The Second Amendment exists to ensure that law-abiding Americans can protect their homes and families, and I look forward to helping lead the fight to defeat this bill and to protect our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
