Economy still floundering as September brings fourth-worst Obama Failometer Score
Black unemployment still higher than any month under Bush
Labor force participation ties 35-year low
Job growth drops 12 percent
WASHINGTON - The nation's economy continues to flounder and full
recovery appears even further away, according to an objective
mathematical measurement of the nation's economic indicators released Tuesday by Congressman Steve Stockman (R-Texas 36.)
The economy continues to fail to recover under Obama as Obama Failometer
Score stood at 1,173 last month. This is the fourth-worst Obama's
Failometer score this year.
Obama can set the Failometer to zero simply by outperforming George W.
Bush on the economy and fulfilling his 2008 and 2012 campaign promises
to help blacks and Hispanics gain economically.
"ObamaCare is sand in the gears of our economy. Job growth slumped 12
percent in one month and black unemployment is still near record highs,"
said Stockman "Our economy won't recover until we replace Obama's
failed policies."
"Under Democrats misery is becoming the new normal. We can do better."
The Obama Failometer uses a fixed mathematical score to calculate four
economic indicators from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The figures
from the monthly reports are weighted to provide a balanced total score,
which ranges from zero to 1,000. A score of 0 represent economic
stability and racial equality. The higher the score, the deeper the
economic failure.
So far, Obama is worse than Bush.
Since its creation Obama has failed to generate a Failometer score that
can be contained within the chart's range of zero to 1000.
The Obama Failometer Score was originally displayed on a ten-foot-long
billboard displayed in the hallways of the Capitol's Cannon House Office
building. House officials ordered it torn down in January after
Democrats complained.
Here is how the Obama Failometer Score is calculated:
FACTORS MEASURED AGAINST BUSH
Monthly jobs created: The Hamilton Project, a liberal economic policy
group, stated last year the economy must create 321,000 jobs a month in
order to return the economy to pre-recession employment levels by
December 2016, the end of Obama's term.
As the economy continues to flounder under Obama that number has grown,
but the Obama Failometer will continue to use it, which gives him some
statistical relief.
Obama promised to not only restore the economy to where it was under
Bush, but grow it. So far Obama has failed to even perform as well as
Bush.
This Obama Failometer score portion is calculated by subtracting the
number of jobs created in the previous month from the 321,000 jobs
claimed necessary by the liberal Hamilton Project and dividing by 1,000
to balance it against other factors.
The BLS reports the economy created only 148,000 jobs last month,
173,000 fewer than needed to restore the economy. This portion of the
Obama Failometer Score is 173.
Civilian labor force participation rate: The civilian labor force
participation rate, the ratio between those 16 and over in the labor
force against the national population of those 16 and over, is an
important measure of economic health. After puttering along during the
Bush administration, including through the "Bush years" of the
recession, under Obama it has plunged sharply.
This Obama Failometer score portion is calculated by subtracting the
monthly civilian labor force participation rate from the average Bush
administration rate and multiplying by 100 to balance it against other
factors. According to data from the BLS, under Bush the average monthly
civilian labor force participation rate was around 66.2 percent.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the monthly civilian labor force
participation rate last month stood at 63.2 percent, the worst rate
since August 1978 and 3.0 percent worse than Bush's average of 66.2
percent. This portion of the Obama Failometer Score is 300.
FACTORS MEASURED AGAINST OBAMA'S OWN RHETORIC
Black unemployment: No one has suffered more economically under Obama
than black Americans. Obama's election and re-election has meant
crippling poverty for the black community.
This Obama Failometer score portion is calculated by taking the monthly
unemployment rate for blacks and subtracting the monthly unemployment
rate for all Americans, and multiplying it by 100 to balance it against
other factors.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the black unemployment rate last
month was 12.9 percent, while the national overall rate was 7.2 percent.
That is a gap of 5.7 percent. This portion of the Obama Failometer
Score is 570.
Compare Obama's performance to Bush's. The highest monthly unemployment
rate ever for blacks under Bush was 12.1 percent. Obama's lowest rate
is now 12.6 percent in Jul. He has never performed as well as Bush's
worst black unemployment rate.
Bush's average black unemployment rate was 9.7 percent and an overall
national average of 5.2 percent, a 4.5 percent gap that gives Bush a
score of 450.
Hispanic unemployment: Despite winning the Hispanic vote, Obama's
liberal policies have caused widespread damage to the Hispanic
community. Thanks to Obama, they continue to lag behind the national
average in many economic factors.
This Obama Failometer score portion is calculated by taking the monthly
unemployment rate for Hispanics and subtracting the monthly unemployment
rate for all Americans, and multiplying it by 100 to balance it against
other factors.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the Hispanic unemployment rate
last month grew to a stunning 8.5 percent, while the national overall
rate was 7.2 percent. That is a gap of 1.3 percent. This portion of
the Obama Failometer Score is 130.
The Hispanic unemployment rate hit its all-time historic low of 4.7
percent during Bush's last term. It is almost twice that rate under
Obama.
THEREFORE, THIS MONTH'S OBAMA FAILOMETER SCORE IS 1,173.

Texas A&M Aggie Johnny "Football" Manziel First Freshman to Win Heisman? Dan Rather Says Yes!
| Johnny "Football" Manziel - Dallas Morning News Pic |
Texan Dan Rather, whose long career as a journalist (that included being the face of CBS 60 Minutes) ended in shame due to a false report about President George W. Bush's National Guard Military service, has endorsed Texas A&M Quarterback Johnny "Football" Manziel for Heisman.
I know, you are scratching your heads right about now. What is Dan Rather doing getting involved in something like this? Maybe he is trying to win back favor from his fellow Texans who were embarrassed that he was from Texas after he was fired for lying about our former Governor and Texan U.S. President Dubya.
Dan Rather endorsed Manziel during an interview with www.TexAgs.com. Dan Rather is a graduate of Sam Houston State University and the interview was done right before the Texas A&M vs. SHSU football game.
The interview did include more than just football talk. My favorite part of the interview was when Dan Rather talked about how he worries about there being a lower standard in journalism due to the digital era and new technologies that get news out on the internet faster than ever before. Yeah, Dan Rather worrying that journalism standards have lowered gave me a chuckle too.
On a different note though, Dan Rather endorsing someone in the Heisman Trophy race is not all that unusual considering the politics behind football. Last year I wrote an article (Texas A&M has Fired Aggie Football Coach Mike Sherman - Will Politics Decide Next Coach?). The article was about how politics and money play huge roles in Football in Texas. Big, influential donors can threaten to stop giving money to a school if the donor thinks the school needs a new football coach. Politics plays a bigger role in football than people think. When Texas A&M was talking about moving from the Big 12 to the SEC, the Texas Legislature called a meeting to discuss the implications of a potential move. Members of Congress have called for investigations into the BCS because it does not have a playoff system and less well known football teams can go undefeated and still miss out on the BCS Bowl money. There is a 4 team playoff coming soon though because of the opposition to a team getting picked as the national champion when there is no playoff to prove who the true best team is out of the top teams. People call the BCS Football National Champion the "Mythical National Champion."
Politics aside, Johnny Football really is the best individual player in College Football, and in the history of College Football for that matter, and therefore he should win the Heisman. Politics has kept the Heisman voters from wanting to pick a Freshman to win the award, but if there is any freshman deserving of winning the Heisman it is Johnny "Football" Manziel.
I am not saying this just because I am a graduate of Texas A&M University. I am saying this because the Johnny "Football" Manziel statistics are just mind blowing, and just think how much more mind blowing his statistics would be if he played full games this year (Manziel sat out for 8 quarters this year to let other Aggie Quarterbacks get some play time in the blowout games!) Move over Vince Young, Texas has a new star! Manziel's ability to make big plays has even led the Aggies to a top 10 BCS ranking, an elite team in the SEC, and a win against #1 Alabama.
Don't believe me? Check out the incredible Johnny "Football" Manziel statistics for yourself here: http://heisman.aggieathletics.com/
Then, after you have seen the stats of Johnny "Football" Manziel, you can see how his stats compare to recent Heisman Trophy winners like Tim Tebow and Cam Newton here: http://heisman.aggieathletics.com/stats.html
Oh, and for good measure, check out the video below to see some of Johnny Football's greatest moments.
Finally, remember when I said that politics plays a big role in Football? Well, that is one of the reason's I wrote this article. Part of the politics of winning the Heisman is that your chances go way up if you can win the battle of getting the most hype and news coverage. So Go Johnny Football! Represent the Great State of Texas! You were, after all, a product of Texas Friday Night Lights. A Heisman win for you beings good media coverage and money into Texas.

Hispanic George P. Bush to Run for Texas Statewide Office (George W. Bush's Nephew)
George P. Bush is a Conservative Hispanic Texan. His father is Jeb Bush who is a former Florida Governor and brother of former U.S. President and Texas Governor George W. Bush. George P. Bush's mother was born in Mexico.
High profile conservative Hispanics are very sought after in the Republican Party because of the GOP's desire to attract Hispanic/Latino Voters, who are mostly conservative, to come over to the Republican Party.
Ted Cruz was recently elected to be a U.S. Senator from Texas and is already been thrown into the national spotlight.
If George P. Bush runs for statewide office in Texas, expect him to win and move up the ladder very quickly. The Republican Party is desperate for guys like him so that the Republican Party can show that our conservative values are welcoming to all people of all colors. It was the Republican Party after-all who freed the slaves and elected the first black officials. Over time though the Democrats have been able to lie and portray Republicans as a party for only white people. The Democrats give handouts to the minority communities to basically buy their favor. Those handouts only keep minorities down though. Republicans want to lift minorities up and not just give them free stuff, but teach then how to work their way up and become great and make a good living for their families. Republican Conservative values are values that are shared by all people of all colors.
It is not certain when George P. Bush is going to run for office, or what he will run for. One thing is certain though is that he has taken the first step. The Texas Tribune is reporting that George P. Bush has filed paperwork with the Texas Secretary of State appointing a campaign treasurer. This is the first step required for someone wanting to be a candidate for a Statewide office in Texas.
George P. Bush is 36 years old and is an Attorney. He is also a political consultant and a founding board member of the Hispanic Republicans of Texas Political Action Committee.
