Arrests of illegal immigrants crossing into the United States have nearly tripled in recent months in anticipation of Congressional efforts to enact comprehensive immigration legislation, border patrol agents told CBS News Wednesday.

“Once the first group gets across, they call their family, they call their friends and let them know, ‘Hey the time is right, come on over,’” Border Patrol agent and union representative Chris Cabrera told CBS News.

In March, 7,500 illegals were arrested in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, which includes McAllen, Cabrera told CBS News. That’s up from 2,800 in January.

In February, nearly 4,800 illegals were arrested in the Rio Grande, the local news website The Monitor.com reports.

In fact, agents in McAllen used their station’s carport to process nearly 900 illegals caught over three days in March, according to the Monitor.com.

Border Patrol agents have become so concerned about overcrowding and unsanitary conditions that they’ve complained to local and federal officials, the Monitor.com reports.

Many illegals are caught while traveling through the brush between Hidalgo and Sullivan City in Texas, a winding 30-mile stretch of the Rio Grande.

It’s popular with immigrants, who speed across the Rio Grande and assimilate into the small towns along the border, the Monitor.com reports.

Immigration into the United States had been slowing during the recession.

But, CBS says, hopes of gaining citizenship under new legislation and a rebounding U.S. economy are fueling the fresh migration.

The CBS report included surveillance video showing more than 40 men, women and children crossing the border illegally from Mexico during the night.

Some of the illegals come from as far away as Brazil, Cabrera told CBS.

“The people in Washington think they have this idea that the border is safe, the border is secure,” the Border Patrol agent said. “I think they need to come down here and take a look.”

Last month, the bipartisan “Gang of Eight” senators introduced a comprehensive immigration-reform package that would put the 11 million immigrants in the country illegally on a 13-year path to U.S. citizenship.

It would cost each individual $2,000 in fines plus additional fees, and would begin only after steps have been taken to secure the border.

The Senate group includes GOP Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York.

“We streamlined the system so it’s a lot less bureaucratic, a lot less complicated, a lot easier to follow,” Rubio told Newsmax in an exclusive interview last month before the legislation was formally introduced on Capitol Hill.

“One of the things that’s contributed to illegal immigration is that legal immigration is so complicated and so burdensome, and we’re going to modernize the system in a way that’s pro-business, pro-economy.”

But GOP Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama has criticized efforts by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy to rush the 844-page bill through Congress.

Sessions also sits on the Judiciary Committee.

“We are talking about legislation that will impact virtually every aspect of our society, reshape our entire immigration system, introduce at least 30 million new foreign workers into the economy, and directly impact every single American worker and taxpayer,” Sessions said last month in a statement released to Newsmax.

And other Congress members from border states have insisted that immigration reforms be tied to adding more guards, cameras and drones.

The Border Patrol is shifting agents from Laredo to the Rio Grande area, CBS reports.

Meanwhile, back in Texas, Juan Mercado has seen more illegals crossing on the border property that his family has owned in McAllen since the 1850s.

“I’m being invaded by people who have no permission to be on my property,” Mercado told CBS. “By smugglers, by illegals.”

Mercado now is relying on his own security system: a gun.

“I get a clip and it’s ready to go,” he said.

American politicians in both parties are stampeding all over themselves to pander to Mexico and adopt mass illegal alien amnesty schemes. But while the Mexican government lobbies for more “humane” treatment of illegal border crossers from their country into ours, Mexico remains notoriously restrictionist toward “undesirable” foreigners who break their laws or threaten their security.
Despite widely touted immigration “reforms” adopted in 2011, Mexico still puts Mexico first — as any country that is serious about protecting its sovereignty should and would.
Article 33 of Mexico’s constitution establishes the right of the president to detain and deport “any foreigner” and prohibits foreigners from participating “in any way” in the political affairs of the country.
While you read this passage, dwell on the demagogic rhetoric of meddling Mexican consular officials and lobbyists who assail America for its (poorly enforced) detention and deportation policies:
“The President of the Republic shall have the power to expel from national territory any foreigner, according to the law and after a hearing. The law shall establish the administrative procedure for this purpose, as well as the place where the foreigner should be detained and the time for that. Foreigners may not in any way participate in the political affairs of the country.”
Article 32 of Mexico’s constitution unapologetically bans non-native born residents from holding sensitive jobs and joining the country’s military. Preference is given unabashedly to Mexicans over foreigners.
While you read this passage, contemplate the inexorable push by open-borders groups to secure illegal alien “rights” to American jobs, American military assignments, American driver’s licenses, discounted U.S. college tuition and Obamacare:
“Only Mexicans by birth can perform all government employments, positions, or commissions in which the status of citizenship is indispensable. During peacetime, foreigners shall neither serve in the Army nor in the police bodies. During peacetime, only Mexicans by birth can serve in the Army, in the Navy or in the Air Force as well can perform any employment or commission within such corporations.
The same condition applies to captains, pilots, skippers, ship engineers, flight engineers and, in general, to every crew member in a ship or an airplane carrying the Mexican flag. In the same way, only Mexicans by birth can be port harbormasters, steersmen and airport superintendents.
Mexicans shall have priority over foreigners, under equal circumstances, for all kind of concessions, employments, positions or commissions of the government in which the status of citizenship is not indispensable.”
While amnesty advocates and civil liberties zealots in the U.S. decry “police state” tactics against illegal aliens, Mexico fiercely maintains laws against illegal border crossings; “verification visits” to enforce visa conditions; requirements that foreigners produce proof of legal status on demand; and enforcement and cooperation between and among immigration officials and law enforcement authorities at all levels in Mexico. Native-born Mexicans are also empowered to make citizens arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents Arrest Two Convicted Sex Offender Illegal Aliens in Texas

Hey, I thought all the illegal Immigrants in America were good people who just want to come here and be good? NOT! This, along with incidents like Houston Police Officers getting killed by illegals, is the reason why we need to secure the border. We welcome any law abiding people to come to America and make a better life, but we have to secure the border from the hundreds of thousands of criminals coming over and from the drug violence spilling over.

CBP U.S. Border Patrol Agents Arrest Two Convicted Sex Offenders

McAllen, Texas ─ CBP U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested two illegal aliens Monday, who have prior convictions for sex offenses.

The first sex offender was arrested early that morning as part of a group of 15 illegal aliens apprehended near Penitas, Texas. Through the use of state-of-the-art biometric identification technology, Border Patrol agents discovered one of the men in the group had a conviction for criminal sex abuse. Agents learned of the conviction after entering the man’s information into the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) database.

IAFIS enables Border Patrol agents to simultaneously search Customs and Border Protection’s Automated Biometric Identification System (IDENT) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s criminal fingerprint database. This allows agents to rapidly identify individuals with criminal histories by electronically comparing a live-scanned, 10-fingerprint entry against a comprehensive national database of previously captured fingerprints.

In a separate incident near Hidalgo, Texas, agents apprehended a group of 25 illegal aliens. When agents entered the individuals’ information into IAFIS they discovered that one of the illegal aliens has a prior conviction for child molestation.

“The outstanding efforts of our agents in apprehending illegal aliens with criminal records, coupled with the technology to properly identify them, has made our communities safer,” Chief Patrol Agent Rosendo Hinojosa said. “By working together with other law enforcement agencies to aggressively target illegal activity and take criminals off our streets, we make our nation more secure.”
