Car Bomb Explodes near Texas/Mexico Border - Zetas Drug Cartel Attack

Violence like this along the border is getting worse and is already spilling over into the US and Texas. When will the Obama Administration and the Federal Government step up to do more to protect our own border from this escalating violence?

The car bomb article today from the associated press (see below) is yet another example of this escalating violence.

It is a shame that most of this violence goes unreported in the national media and can only be found in a local newspaper or website....

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexican officials say suspected cartel gunmen have launched a complex attack involving heavy weapons and a car bomb on a police dormitory less than 4 miles (6.5 kilometers) from the U.S. border.

The two officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not yet authorized to release the information, said a number of police were wounded in the attack early Thursday morning in Nuevo Laredo in Tamaulipas state. The attack began with men opening fire, then setting off a car bomb in front of the police dorm. The officials did not provide details.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents Arrest Two Convicted Sex Offender Illegal Aliens in Texas

Hey, I thought all the illegal Immigrants in America were good people who just want to come here and be good? NOT! This, along with incidents like Houston Police Officers getting killed by illegals, is the reason why we need to secure the border. We welcome any law abiding people to come to America and make a better life, but we have to secure the border from the hundreds of thousands of criminals coming over and from the drug violence spilling over.

CBP U.S. Border Patrol Agents Arrest Two Convicted Sex Offenders

McAllen, Texas ─ CBP U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested two illegal aliens Monday, who have prior convictions for sex offenses.

The first sex offender was arrested early that morning as part of a group of 15 illegal aliens apprehended near Penitas, Texas. Through the use of state-of-the-art biometric identification technology, Border Patrol agents discovered one of the men in the group had a conviction for criminal sex abuse. Agents learned of the conviction after entering the man’s information into the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) database.

IAFIS enables Border Patrol agents to simultaneously search Customs and Border Protection’s Automated Biometric Identification System (IDENT) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s criminal fingerprint database. This allows agents to rapidly identify individuals with criminal histories by electronically comparing a live-scanned, 10-fingerprint entry against a comprehensive national database of previously captured fingerprints.

In a separate incident near Hidalgo, Texas, agents apprehended a group of 25 illegal aliens. When agents entered the individuals’ information into IAFIS they discovered that one of the illegal aliens has a prior conviction for child molestation.

“The outstanding efforts of our agents in apprehending illegal aliens with criminal records, coupled with the technology to properly identify them, has made our communities safer,” Chief Patrol Agent Rosendo Hinojosa said. “By working together with other law enforcement agencies to aggressively target illegal activity and take criminals off our streets, we make our nation more secure.”

"The Mexican government has made great strides battling the cartels, and we commend their continued commitment to making Mexico a safer place to live and visit," said DPS Director Steven C. McCraw. "However, drug cartel violence and other criminal activity represent a significant safety threat, even in some resort areas." According to published information from the U.S. Department of State: * 12,903 narcotics-related homicides were reported the first nine months of 2011 alone. The number of U.S. citizens reported as murdered in Mexico increased from 35 in 2007 to 120 in 2011. U.S. citizens have fallen victim to transnational criminal activity, including homicide, gun battles, kidnapping, carjacking and highway robbery. Rape and sexual assault continue to be serious problems in resort areas. Some bars and nightclubs, especially in resort cities such as Cancun, Acapulco, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas, and Tijuana can be havens for drug dealers and petty criminals. Crime and violence are serious problems throughout the country and can occur anywhere. The State Department now urges U.S. travelers to defer non-essential travel to all or parts of 14 Mexican states, four more than 2011.
