Ken Paxton Betrayed Conservatives – Backed Down vs. Straus – Ted Cruz would NOT Have Backed Down

Some people have asked me how I know that Ken Paxton is not the right man to be our next Texas Attorney General. There are many reasons. Do I think Ken Paxton is conservative? Of course I do, but I do not believe he is the best conservative and I do not believe he is the best leader. I believe Barry Smitherman is the better conservative and a far better leader who will not back down. Unfortunately, I know for sure that Ken Paxton will back down, even after promising not to back down. How do I know that Ken Paxton cannot be trusted when he says he will not back down? Because Paxton already broke that promise just 3 years ago. He betrayed conservatives and backed down from challenging Joe Straus even after he promised just the day before that he would not back down and would take it to the floor (see video below). We need more people like Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz faced a losing Obamacare battle but he stood for nearly a day and took the fight all the way to the end. Cruz is the kind of conservative leader we need. Ken Paxton is no Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz would have never pulled out and betrayed conservatives right before the Joe Straus big vote. Cruz would have taken it to the floor. Ken Paxton did not do that and he will forever be known in my mind as someone who, although he is conservative, is not strong enough to follow through no matter what. He will back down. If he caved in to Straus, what do you think he will do when he faces Obama? Barry Smitherman on the other hand has already sued Obama 7 times and has not backed down.

Paxton PROMISED to Challenge Liberal Texas Speaker Joe Straus and Take It To The Floor. Paxton Had No Guts and Backed out the Day of the Vote, Leaving Conservatives Hanging and Betrayed

Texas has a liberal, pro-abortion Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, Joe Straus. Straus got elected by teaming up with all the Democrats to rally against the Republicans to get him elected.

Conservatives demanded that Joe Straus be challenged. Conservatives even kicked out several moderate Republicans and replaced them with conservative ones who would vote against Straus.

Ken Paxton says he will challenge Straus. I supported Ken Paxton as the clearly better choice over Joe Straus. Ken Paxton PROMISED that he would take it to the floor and have an open vote for Speaker of the House. Paxton promised that he would never back out of the race no matter what. He promised he would take it to the floor. Conservatives were trusting him to actually challenge Straus and force a vote on the floor. Even if Paxton was not going to win, by taking it to the floor and forcing a vote, the conservatives in Texas could see which representatives supported the liberal Straus. By seeing which State Representatives voted for Straus, the conservatives in Texas could rally and defeat those State Reps and get conservatives elected who will vote against Straus and defeat him once and for all.
On the day of the election, Ken Paxton dropped out of the race. He allowed Straus to become the speaker again without a challenge and without a floor vote. No one even got to see which Reps would have voted for Straus.

Conservative State Reps got Punished for Supporting Paxton. Paxton refused to help them

There was no floor vote so no one got to see who the moderates were. No one got to see who would have supported Straus. On the other hand, everyone know who the State Representatives were who supported Paxton. There were several brave, conservative State Reps who publicly spoke out in favor of Paxton and in opposition to Straus. The voters never got to see who would have voted against Straus, but Straus got to see who openly opposed him. The state Representatives who openly opposed Straus were: Leo Berman (HD-6), Cindy Burkett (HD-101), Erwin Cain (HD-3), Wayne Christian (HD-9), Dan Flynn (HD-2), Jim Landtroop (HD-85) , Phil King (HD-61), Jodie Laubenberg (HD-89), Tan Parker (HD-63), Ken Paxton (HD-70), Charles Perry (HD-83), David Simpson (HD-7), Van Taylor (HD-66), James White (HD-12), Bill Zedler (HD-96)

This list of conservatives were targeted by Straus. Straus hurt them in redistricting. He botched their districts so that they would not win, or he put them in districts where they would have to run against his well-funded Chairmen. Most notably, Wayne Christian had 80 percent of his district moved to a completely different area. The change in his district was absolutely unneeded for redistricting and was clearly a way to push him out. Also, my current State Representative James White opposed Straus and, during redistricting, was put into the same district as Straus Chairman Mike Hamilton. Mike Hamilton had the money backing of friends of Straus so they thought White would lose easily to Hamilton. Also Conservative anti Straus Reps Charles Perry and Jim Landtroop were paired together in the same district so that one of them would lose for sure. All of these changes were not needed for redistricting. Wayne Christian made a youtube video that breaks down exactly how Straus was attacking anti-Straus conservatives in redistricting, and Bryan Hughes even accused a Straus leader of directly telling him that he would be hurt in redistricting if he supported Straus.

I spoke privately with one of these conservative state reps who supported Paxton and was attacked by Straus in redistricting. I asked the State Rep to give me the inside story and promised that I would not reveal his name so I am not. His information was true though after I checked into it so his points are valid. What happened was these conservative State Reps reached out to Paxton for help. They stood up for him and they were asking him to help them defend against the attacks from Straus.

Paxton was sitting on around $800,000. Paxton had no serious challenger and could have used the money to help out his fellow conservatives who were being attacked in the election by Straus. In the end, I can only find on the Texas Ethics website where Paxton only ended up giving money to one of the State Reps, Jim Landtroop. A small $2500 donation while he sat on nearly a million.

Bottom line, Paxton is not a liberal, he is a conservative. He is NOT the best man to be our next Texas Attorney General. He is no Ted Cruz. Paxton has proven that he WILL back down when the going gets tough, even after promising not to back down. Texas needs a guy like Barry Smitherman who will not back down and is super conservative.

Barry Smitherman: Texas Preparing for Sovereignty if U.S. Falls Apart – Attorney General Race Update

In an interview with WND’s John Griffing, Texas Railroad Commission Chairman, and Texas Attorney General Candidate, Barry Smitherman, said that Texas is preparing to survive as an independent nation if the U.S. falls apart. Smitherman simply wants us to be ready for if the time comes when Texas is on her own without the Federal government. I have a generator to power my house if the power goes out. I do not want the power to go out, but if it does I am prepared to keep the lights on. Shouldn’t Texas also be prepared to keep the lights on if the federal government goes out?

I have always liked Barry Smitherman. He stands for what is right without thinking about political correctness. Heck, he has sued Obama 7 times already! He is not just a Christian conservative. He is a Christian conservative who can LEAD. I see in him the passion that I saw in Ted Cruz when I went out on a limb and supported Cruz against the establishment grain. Smitherman is being smart and thinking ahead. He is thinking about Texas, but certainly not turning his back on America. As a Texan myself, I completely support Smitherman’s survival plan just as I supported a bill that State Rep James White filed in 2013 called the “Texas Self Sufficiency Act”. White’s bill would prepare Texas for sovereignty by doing a study to determine, financially, how Texas will survive on our own if the Federal Government collapses. We are not talking about pushing for Texas Secession. We are just talking about being prepared for anything that might happen if the very volatile and unstable Federal Government falls apart. This means being prepared for even the possibility of Texas secession, independence, surviving on our own, etc.

I am not advocating for Texas to become enemies with America or turn our backs on America, and neither is Smitherman, but there is a very real possibility that the U.S. will fall apart and crumble over things like MASSIVE debt. What will we do if the U.S. falls apart? Do we have a plan for Texans to survive on our own? Are we capable of surviving on our own? The State of Texas should not wait until the U.S. fails to simply be prepared and be capable of surviving IF the U.S. fails.

Select Quotes form Barry Smitherman from the WND interview:

“Generally speaking, we have made great progress in becoming an independent nation, an ‘island nation’ if you will, and I think we want to continue down that path so that if the rest of the country falls apart, Texas can operate as a stand-alone entity with energy, food, water and roads as if we were a closed-loop system,” Smitherman said.

He added that the state is “uniquely situated because we have energy resources, fossil and otherwise, and our own independent electrical grid.”

“This was one of my goals at the Utility Commission and it is one my goals currently as chairman of the Railroad Commission,” Smitherman said. “That’s why I stress so vehemently oil and gas production, permitting turnaround times, and everything that enables the industry to produce as much as it can, as quickly as it can.”

Smitherman added in the interview that Texas has “been very strong leading in the charge against the Obama administration.”

Representative White Opposes Proposed San Antonio City Ordinance Hostile to Traditional Values and Free Speech

The following is a statement from State Representative James White blasting the proposed San Antonio, Texas Ordinance that is Hostile to Traditional Values and Free Speech:

Sept. 4, 2013
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Representative White Opposes Proposed San Antonio City Ordinance
Hostile to Traditional Values and Free Speech
The ongoing attack against religious liberty and free speech has once again come to Texas as the City of San Antonio is set to vote September 5 on a proposed "non-discrimination ordinance" expanding existing prohibitions against discrimination to business and government practices on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
"This proposed ordinance undermines religious free speech and targets Texans who hold a traditional understanding of human sexuality," said State Representative James White. He continued, "It's unfortunate that this is happening in San Antonio. This city has a history steeped in Faith, as its famous Mission Walk attests."
This policy violates not only the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution but also the Texas Constitution, which defines marriage as consisting of one man and one woman, and the prohibition in state law that "a government agency may not substantially burden a persons free exercise of religion." Specifically, were this proposal to be enacted, it might actually promote discrimination instead of restrict it, especially against religious organizations and individuals.
Churches could be sued for refusing to lease their facilities to those with whom they theologically disagree. Business owners could become ineligible for city contracts if an employee is offended by the influence of their religious beliefs in their company. Elected officials could be removed from office if any kind of prejudice is perceived in the expression of personal views. "Just think, if approved, this ordinance could disqualify for elected office a Sunday School teacher who presents a Bible lesson on Leviticus," stated Representative White.
Representative White is all too familiar with this fight, having come to the defense of the Kountze High School cheerleaders last year when a Wisconsin-based atheist group sought legal action to stop their display of  banners with Bible verses at football games. After several months in court, the cheerleaders prevailed, demonstrating that Texas still recognizes the constitutional rights of its citizens to exercise their religion and express their views freely.
"This is San Antonio, not San Francisco," said Representative White. "I am proud to stand with the vast majority of Texans who live in San Antonio and cherish the tried and true conservative values of Faith and Freedom."

Black Rep. James White Criticizes Holder and GOP Rep. Sensenbrenner for implying that Texas Restricts Minority Voting Rights

James White
State Representative James White has sent a letter to Republican Congressman James (Jim) Sensenbrenner blasting Sensenbrenner and Eric Holder, and demanding that they stop messing with the 10th Amendment rights of Texas.

Rep. James White, a Texas Tea Party Conservative, knows quite a bit about the voting rights of minorities in Texas because, well, he is a minority in Texas.

James "Jim" Sensenbrenner
Specifically, Rep. White chastized Republican Rep. Sensenbrenner for saying it is ok to put Texas under the unfair preclearance microscope of the Voting Rights Act while at the same time Sensenbrenner does not want his own state of Wisconsin to be under preclearance. White further pointed out that Texas is not under preclearance because it had been struck down by the Supreme Court as unconstitutional unless Congress could fix the way states are determined to have the need to be under preclearance. White suggested the Congressman actually pass a new VRA to fix the problems instead of trying to target Texas and get around the Supreme Court's decision.

Eric Holder
White also blasted Attorney General Eric Holder. White, a minority elected official in east Texas,
says that statistics show the minority vote is not being restricted in southern states. White even pointed out that black voter turnout was higher than white voter turnout in recent elections. White then suggested that, instead of suing Texas, Holder should investigate harassment by the IRS toward groups that provide an opportunity for people to exercise their 1st Amendment rights.

Elbert Guillory
Recently, Elbert Guillory, a black State Senator from the southern state of Louisiana, made a viral video explaining why he switched to the Republican Party. In the video, Guillory even blasted and exposed the Democrat Party as being the party of the KKK and the party that has historically discriminated against blacks and minorities while the Republicans freed blacks and gave them rights and elected the first blacks to public office.

The following is a press release from State Rep. James White regarding the situation with Holder and Sensenbrenner:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 15, 2013

State Representative James White Criticizes Holder and Sensenbrenner for Going After Texas

State Representative James White (R-Hillister) recently sent a letter to Republican Wisconsin Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner criticizing him for supporting Attorney General Eric Holder's move to put Texas back under the Section 5 preclearance requirements of the Voting Rights Act (VRA) after the Supreme Court struck down procedures in Section 4 that determine which states are subject to these requirements. Instead of encouraging Congress to update those procedures, as the Supreme Court directed, Holder is opting to use the "bail-in" provision of Section 3, which allows the federal government to apply the preclearance requirements to states where there are allegations of intentional discrimination. Representative White deplored this politicization of the judicial system. "Holder's decision to attack Texas's laws is a violation of its sovereignty and the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution," White said. "Instead of suing Texas, Holder should investigate harassment by the IRS toward groups that provide an opportunity for people to exercise their 1st Amendment rights."

White questioned Sensenbrenner's inconsistent advocacy of Holder's attempt to apply the VRA to Texas. "Why are you advocating the targeted enforcement of a provision of this law without suggesting that same level of scrutiny apply to your home state?" White asked. He noted that the Supreme Court did not throw out the VRA in its entirety but sent it back to Congress for it to update the procedures that determine which states should be subject to Section 5 preclearance. White continued, "Instead of aiding and abetting political harassment from the Holder Justice Department, it seems to me your focus should be on improving the VRA and ensuring that voters in Wisconsin have the optimum access to the ballot box."

White shared compelling data to demonstrate that the Justice Department's tactics are misguided and overtly political. In 2012, the national black voter turnout rate was higher than the white voter turnout rate. The Southern states primarily targeted with VRA preclearance have seen increases in minority voter registration levels, election turnout rates, and representation among elected officials since the enactment of the VRA, and these figures are on par with other regions of the country. White explained, "These facts raise serious doubts about the validity of allegations of intentional discrimination by states like Texas toward minorities."

White acknowledged that the VRA is a successful piece of social policy because it focused on expanding individual liberty. "I stand proudly on the shoulders of those before me that fought for this precious right," White said. "However, the recent application of the VRA has interfered with 10th Amendment rights. Instead of promoting the popular will of all the people, politicos have gamed the system for partisan gain." The Court did not ditch the VRA, it just told Congress to fix it. "Please," White asked Sensenbrenner, "refrain from supporting this politicized Justice Department's obstruction of the voting process. I urge you to go to work to reform this great piece of legislation that protects all voters from sea to shining sea and ensure that the march for individual liberty continues throughout this next great American century."

Speaker Straus Killed Pro-Life Bills so Texas Right to Life and GOP Reps ask for Special Session

The following is a letter from Texas Right to Life sent to Governor Perry signed by 62 Texas pro-life State Representatives. The letter asks for Governor Rick Perry to add pro-life bills to the 2013 Special Session agenda. The bills requested to be added to the Special session are bills that Texas Speaker Joe Straus asked his leadership to kill during the 2013 regular legislative session. Joe Straus did not want any controversial bills to pass because he wanted to make the Democrats happy. No controversial bills means Joe Straus killed the important pro-life bills.

The following is the letter from Texas Right to Life to Governor Rick Perry:

Friend ---
Texas Right to Life is so proud of the Pro-Life Whip in the Texas House of Representatives, Representative Bryan Hughes, who drafted and circulated the following letter for signatures from his colleagues to urge Pro-Life Governor Rick Perry to again lead on protecting Life.  62 of the 150 House members joined Pro-Life Whip Hughes on the letter.

If a special session is called (after the enormously disappointing 83rd Regular Session that ends on Memorial Day during which no Pro-Life legislation was passed), Governor Perry may call legislators back to address some unfinished business.  Along with the 62 legislators, Texas Right to Life considers the approximately 80,000 tiny Texans who will be aborted this year to be unfinished business.

Pro-Life legislators are frustrated and saddened about being denied the opportunity to pass laws that protect the health and safety of women and safeguard our most vulnerable unborn Texans.  Our Pro-Life State House members are eager to work - even if they have to stay longer in Austin - with our Pro-Life Governor and Pro-Life Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst to enact new Pro-Life laws during a possible special session.
May 24, 2013
Dear Governor Perry,

Thank you for the strong stands you take for life and for liberty.  The undersigned members of the House share your commitment to protect the sanctity of human life.  Despite an overwhelming pro-life majority in the House, not a single pro-life bill filed during this 83rd session reached the House floor.

Since pro-life values are fundamental to us, and since the majority of Texans share these convictions, we are not willing to give up the fight.  In the struggle to defend life, we cannot take a day off - much less a legislative session.

In light of the increasing likelihood of a Special Session, we ask that you exercise your constitutional power and add pro-life bills to the call.

More specifically, we ask that you add the following matters to the call:
1.Protection of pain-capable unborn children from abortion at 20 weeks gestation;

2.Protection of women and unborn children by requiring abortion facilities to meet the same health and safety standards as ambulatory surgical centers; and

3.Protection of women and unborn children by requiring abortion doctors to secure and maintain privileges at an emergency room within thirty miles of the facility where they commit abortions.

4. Legislation ensuring that any Health Insurance Exchange (whether state or federal) set up in Texas does not include coverage for abortion.
On these matters of life, the will of the people has been frustrated thus far in the Regular Session. By adding these fundamentally important issues to the special session agenda, you can enable your pro-life House Members to defend innocent human life.

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of our request, and thank you for your service to Texas.
Sincerely,
Representative George Lavender

Not All SNL Actors Are Liberal! Victoria Jackson, Conservative Actor, likes my Texas Sovereignty Article

Not too long ago, I wrote an article about Texas State Representative James White introducing a bill that will require the leaders of Texas to start crunching the numbers and figure out what Texas would look like if it had to be self sufficient... limited or no federal support... you know, for if the Federal Government collapses under all the debt it has and Texas has to do things all on our own.

Several other websites picked up my article, including the website of Victoria Jackson.

Victoria Jackson was an actor on Saturday Night Live (and here I thought that there were no conservatives on SNL). Anyways, Victoria Jackson posted a link to my James White Texas Sovereignty article on her website and talked about moving to Texas. http://victoriajacksonshow.com/7732/moving-to-texas

Hey, kudos to you for being a conservative in a liberal working environment! You are welcome to come to Texas anytime!

She has even written a book about how she went from SNL to the Tea Party.

She now has her own gig, the Victoria Jackson Show.

Awesome!

Moving to Texas

It is a very real possibility that one day the massive U.S. debt will become so large and unsustainable that it causes a financial meltdown. State Rep. James White has proposed a bill that will require the leaders of Texas to start crunching the numbers and figure out what Texas would look like if it had to be self sufficient… limited or no federal support…. OUR OWN COUNTRY….Hey, I didn’t say secession but that certainly comes to mind when thinking about the federal government having a financial meltdown and cutting off most or all support to the States.

Rep. James White Files Bill Strengthening E-Verify in Texas

The following is a press release from Texas State Representative James White regarding the E-Verify bill he has filed in the 2013 Texas Legislative Session:

Contact: Tyler Norris
512-463-0490

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Representative James White Files Bill Strengthening E-Verify
A program ensuring verification of work authorization

AUSTIN, TEXAS– Today Representative James White filed HB 1730 a bill regarding the federal electronic verification of work authorization program, or E-Verify.

“There is a national conversation underway in our nation about immigration and enforcement of our laws,” said Representative White. “This bill is just one step in improving our system of enforcement and verification, which must be part of the ongoing conversation on immigration reform.”

HB 1730 states that a state agency may not award state contractors for goods and services in Texas unless they are registered with and participating in the Federal E-Verify program already in place.  Contractors must continue to be a part of the program throughout the entire term of their contract with the state agency. Failure to comply with the law will result in a business in violation being referred to the Comptroller for investigation. Any business found in violation can be removed from receiving state contracts for up to one year of consideration.

“With the current condition of our national economy, it is critical we do what we can to secure our economic future.  This is a simple bill that goes a long way towards providing an honest and transparent system for companies that stay within the law to work with the state on projects to improve our everyday lives, and is first and foremost an effort to make sure citizens of Texas are the ones being employed with their own tax dollars,” said Representative White.

Representative White is the Member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 19, composed of Polk, Tyler, Jasper, Newton, and Hardin counties.

Students with Guns! Texas Bill Would Create School Gun Classes - Filed by Rep. James White

I can already see the liberal news headlines.... Texas Wants to Teach Students How to Kill is what the gun control advocates will say. They will post pictures (like the one on the right) that makes it look like Texas is teaching little kids how to be a member of the Texas Militia or something. They are wrong. Texas State Representative James White has filed a bill that will allow High Schools in Texas the option of having a gun class. It would be a class where students learn how to use and clean firearms properly. This is a great bill. Many gun accidents happen because adults and kids are afraid to handle, or do not know how to handle, or clean a gun. They are not taught to respect it and it is not ingrained in them to always think about safety with guns. Also, in this class, the students would even be taught about the history and importance of the second amendment. Again, this would be an optional class for school districts and parents would not be forced to put their kid in this class.

Press Release from State Representative James White:

AUSTIN, TEXAS– Today Representative James White filed HB 1142, which provides locals schools boards the discretion to add an elective course offering that would give their high school students the opportunity to gain an appreciation of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.

“The origins of liberty in our great nation reside in large part with the idea espoused in the Second Amendment,” said Representative White. “As a conservative, I want Texas students to have the option to learn more about both this critical part of our Constitution, and the practical knowledge of how to safely operate the common arms Texans use for hunting and self defense.”

HB 1142 would educate students about firearm safety and training, and hunter’s safety. All instructors would be required to be a qualified and certified handgun instructor or a licensed peace officer, employed by a local law enforcement agency. This optional course would involve students learning proper maintenance, cleaning, and safe use of common firearms such as: pistols, revolvers, rifles and shotguns. The bill would also provide for education on the history and importance of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.

"Conservatives in Texas want nothing more than to preserve the freedom that was granted to us in the United States Constitution. HB 1142, along with a growing list of complementary bills being filed this session, will ensure that Texas leads the nation on standing up to the Obama Administration's troubling rhetoric on gun control," said Representative White.

HB 1142 is part of a strong lineup of conservative legislation that seeks to protect and expand the 2nd Amendment rights of Southeast Texans. State Rep. White is a joint author of two prominent tried and true conservative pieces of legislation, HB 47 and HB 700 to strengthen 2nd Amendment rights in Texas. HB 47 updates the required number of hours to earn and concealed handgun license. HB 700 seeks to allow Texans the option of open carry. Besides being a joint author, State Rep. White is co-authoring the following pro-2nd Amendment legislation:

HB 48: would provide CHLs the opportunity to renew their license in a continuous process on line.

HB 223: would allow members of a school district's school board and the superintendent with a concealed carry license to carry into school board meetings.

HB 553: would take steps to protect Texan's second amendment rights from egregious actions by the federal government.

HB 627: exempting the intrastate manufacture of a firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition from federal regulation.

HB 698: requires that digital or electronic fingerprinting be offered within 25 miles of applicants.

HB 972: CHL on campus

Representative White is the Member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 19, composed of Polk, Tyler, Jasper, Newton, and Hardin counties.

Texas Prepares for Sovereignty if U.S. Defaults - Rep. James White Files Texas Self Sufficiency Act HB 568

State Rep. James White has proposed a bill that will require the leaders of Texas to start crunching the numbers and figure out what Texas would look like if it had to be self sufficient... limited or no federal support.... OUR OWN COUNTRY.... oops, I am getting a little ahead of myself, haha. Hey, I didn't say Texas secession but that certainly comes to mind when thinking about the Federal Government having a financial meltdown and cutting off most or all support to the States...

What would Texas do in the event that the United States of America defaulted? It is a very real possibility that one day the massive U.S. debt will become so large and unsustainable that is causes a financial meltdown. Texas, and pretty much everyone else, would all of the sudden be faced with no more federal funds (which is really just Texas tax dollars given to the feds which is then given back to Texas). Yes, Texas is already a sovereign state, but what would we do if face with complete sovereignty and no federal money?

What would Texas do? That is actually a GREAT question. It is something you might not have really thought of before because, well, government is mostly reactive and not pro-active so they wait until something is a problem and then they try to deal with it.

State Representative James White is thinking ahead. He does not want to have to wait until Texas gets cut off from the federal government to determine how Texas will manage on our own. White wants to start planning now.

Bottom line, this is a great bill and it is really thinking ahead. With the way America is going, it is a very real possibility that federal funds to Texas could be drastically limited or even cut off completely in the event of a financial collapse. Texas needs to be ready and know what to expect.

Press Release from Texas State Representative James White:

State Representative James White Files HB 568:
The Texas Self Sufficiency Act

AUSTIN, TEXAS-- State Representative James White has filed HB 568 or the Texas Self-Sufficiency Act. The Texas Self-Sufficiency Act creates a select committee to evaluate the effects of a possible reduction in or elimination of federal funding on the state budget due to federal fiscal policy. "Due to the fiscal dysfunction of Washington, D.C., and the fact that more than a third of our state's budget revenue comes from the federal government, Texas needs to study what it would mean if the Federal Government couldn't meet its obligations," stated Representative White.

The Texas Self-Sufficiency Act directs the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, the Speaker of the Texas House, and the Comptroller to name a committee of made up of legislators, budget experts and citizens from the non-profit sector to analyze not only our state's dependence on federal funds, but the impact of federal funding on Texas' economy. "Speaker Straus should be commended for naming a House interim committee on sequestration. However, we must expand on this work. My district in South East Texas, for example, has a higher proportion of seniors compared to the state overall percentage. What would happen in the event the Federal Government eliminated the funds normally allocated to them? In the current economic climate, exacerbated by out of control spending in Washington, Texas needs to study possible responses to Federal financial turmoil, and our readiness to adjust to such an event. Texans must govern Texas and Texans need to be concerned about Texas."

Representative White is the Member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 19, composed of Polk, Tyler, Jasper, Newton, and Hardin counties.

TX Rep. James White: Disproportionate # of Black Babies Killed by Abortion - Black Pastors MUST Take Stand

David Bellow, James White, Rick Perry
My Super Conservative Texas State Representative James White spoke with Texas Right to Life last month. In this interview, he pleaded with black pastors to take a stand against the genocide (abortion) that is killing a disproportionate number of black babies compared to other races.

the following is from Texas Right to Life:

In Texas, African Americans make up 13 percent of the population, yet account for 25 percent of all abortions in the state.
On the flip side, the community holds conservative views on abortion, attends church more than the average American, and readily mixes religion and politics, according to Pew Research Center.  Flip the coin again, and you’ll find that black voters overwhelmingly vote for political candidates who are pro-abortion.

State Representative James White, a Pro-Life, black conservative in the Texas House of Representatives, spoke to Texas Right to Life about these contradictions within the African American community.

“When you look at the disproportionate number of black babies...killed by abortion,” lamented Representative White, “obviously, it’s a failure in public policy, but it’s a failure within our communities, within our churches, among our black men.”

Representative White specifically challenged black pastors for not doing enough to stop the genocide in their communities.  “The civil rights movement started out of the church...so any kind of social, political, economic change within the black community will probably initiate from the church,” he said.

Representative White foresees change, but slowly, as the black community becomes more aware that the socially liberal policies of leaders like President Obama have not -- and will not ever -- benefit African Americans.

“I think that all of us as Americans are proud that we have elected the first black president. But at some point you have to be truthful...about his impact on blacks.”

“African American voters, at a rate of 95 percent [in 2008]...participated in electing the first black president, but economically, socially, nothing has really changed for the betterment of black voters,” White emphasized.

Representative White anticipates that once African Americans decide that “they can no longer be soiled by the pro-death, anti-God, anti-religion philosophy of the most outspoken Democrats and liberals,” the community will embrace Pro-Life political leaders.

Rep James White Files Constitutional Amendment Bill to Invalidate Obama Healthcare Individual Mandate in Texas

There have already been several great bills filed for consideration in the 2013 Texas Legislature. These great bills range from protecting unborn babies after 20 weeks because they can feel pain, to allowing Texas to be one of the over 40 other states who allow open carry of handguns.

You can now add my East Texas State Rep. James White to the list of people who have filed awesome conservative bills for the upcoming 2013 Texas Legislative Session.

Super Conservative Texas State Representative James White has filed a bill to constitutionally protect Texans Residents from Obama's Healthcare Individual Mandate.

According to 1200 WOAI News, State Representative James White (R-Lufkin) has introduced a Constitutional Amendment which would prohibit any Texas official, or any federal official operating in Texas, from taking any steps whatsoever to punish any Texas resident for refusing to purchase health insurance.

"We don't think another bloated federal plan is going to be the solution," White told 1200 WOAI news.  "If big federal plans or big plans out of Washington were the answer, we wouldn't be in the situation where we are now in health care."
This bill has many hurdles to clear, but if this bill passes the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate, it will be put on the ballot for all the residents of Texas to vote on. If the residents of Texas vote to approve, the Texas State Constitution would be amended to invalidate the individual mandate of Obamacare.

Yes, it would of course face a United States Supreme Court challenge, but that does not scare Rep. White. Some politicians run away from legislation that they fear might not pass, but the politicians who actually stand for conservative values will stand up for conservative legislation regardless of the chance of the legislation passing.

The last big Constitutional Amendment that was passed in Texas was the Texas Marriage Amendment that defined marriage in Texas as between only a man and a woman. This amendment was passed to make a statement, and also to prevent a radical judge from striking down a marriage law as unconstitutional. By making marriage as between only a man and a woman in the Constitution, no judge can strike it down as unconstitutional.

Same concept with this Obamacare Constitutional Amendment that Rep White is proposing. If it gets passed, hopefully it will be a little harder for it to be struck down because it is not just a law, it will be part of the Constitution of the State of Texas.

White stressed to WOAI News that his measure would not strip health coverage away from any Texan.  He says it would simply invalidate the Individual Mandate in Texas.

Rep. James White Tells TASB: "Unwarranted" to Ban Religious Student Banners - Letter to Texas Association of School Boards - James Crow

The following is a letter sent from State Representative James White to James Crow, the president of the Texas Association of School Boards. This letter from James White is in response to TASB giving bad advice to Kountze ISD. The superintendent of Kountze ISD banned all personally bought or personally made banners/signs/flyers at public football games if they include Bible Verses or other religious encouragements.

There will be a RALLY Oct 5th to Support Kountze Kids Faith @ Kountze, TX Home Football Game

STATE OF TEXAS
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
JAMES WHITE
DISTRICT 12

September 25, 2012

Texas Association of School Boards
Attn: James Crow
P.O. BOX 400
Austin, Texas 78767-0400

Dear Mr. Crow,

I am writing out of concern for the Texas Association of School Board's legal advice
to Kountze ISD to ban all student banners with Christian scriptural references.

Although I recognize the need for the school district to ensure that no student has a
religious belief imposed upon him or her, judicial precedent provides a respectful
and constitutional manner for all students in the state of Texas, including those in
Kountze ISD, to exercise their First Amendment religious liberties. While I certainly
recognize that we must ensure that any religious display is constitutional, Christian
scriptural banners are not disruptive to the educational environment at a Texas high
school football game. Hence it seems that the total prohibition of these banners is
unwarranted.

In 2007, the Texas Legislature amended Chapter 25 of the Texas Education Code to
direct Texas public school districts to develop local policies to protect and enhance
religious student free speech, not limit or prohibit it. I am confident that your legal
counsel will confer in the coming days with local school leadership and the legal
representation of the relevant students to come to a resolution respecting the
religious beliefs of all Texas students.

Respectfully,
James White
