Ted Cruz: Obama administration does not respect First, Second, Fourth or Fifth Amendments

The following article is from the Washington Examiner:

On Fox News Thursday afternoon, Sen. Ted Cruz  indicated that President Obama should ask for Attorney General Eric Holder’s resignation.
“Yes. Absolutely,” the Texas Republican said flatly, after he was asked by Fox News host Megyn Kelly if Obama should ask for Holder’s resignation.
Cruz cited the “unprecedented” investigations of reporters and Holder’s response to the Fast and Furious scandal as examples of the Justice Department disregarding the law.
“Unfortunately, I think it’s part and parcel of a pattern from this administration of not respecting the Bill of Rights,” Cruz added. “Not respecting the First Amendment, not respecting the Second Amendment, not respecting our Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights regarding drone strikes, regarding the IRS.”
Cruz added that it was a disturbing pattern of behavior from the White House.
“Over and over again the pattern we have seen is unfortunate willingness to use the machinery of the federal government as a tool and a partisan tool to punish those perceived as your political enemies,” Cruz said.

Sen. Cruz Supports Investigation of Abortion Practices in U.S.
Urges investigation into Houston facility allegedly engaged in Gosnell-like practices
WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today spoke on the Senate floor in support of Sen. Mike Lee’s (R-Utah) resolution to investigate abortion practices in the U.S. and ensure that clinics like Kermit Gosnell’s have no place in our society. He also brought attention to an abortion facility in Houston that has recently come under scrutiny for alleged late-term abortion and infanticide practices, voicing his support of current state and local investigations into the matter.
“The crimes committed by Kermit Gosnell are almost unspeakable. Knowing what we know now about what happened, everyone in this body should be supporting an investigation to make sure there are not other Kermit Gosnell’s across this country. We need to make sure it is not happening to other unsuspecting mothers, that other newborn babies are not being murdered as they were in Dr. Gosnell’s clinic.
“Everyone who proclaims to be a champion for women and children should enthusiastically support this resolution. Anyone who proclaims himself a champion dedicated to helping the most vulnerable should be supporting this resolution. Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, in 2011 performed 333,964 abortions in the U.S. Almost half of its income comes from the taxpayer, and this body has an obligation to make sure there are not other Gosnell houses of horror practicing today.”
Sen. Lee’s resolution provides that Congress and States should gather information about and correct abusive, unsanitary, and illegal abortion practices and the interstate referral of women and girls to facilities engaged in dangerous or illegal second- and third-trimester procedures.

criminologist John Lott critiqued PolitiFact's recent analysis of Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-TX) statement on guns and crime

Ted Cruz Sets the Record Straight on Guns

By John R. Lott Jr.February 22, 2013 4:05 P.M.Newly elected senator Ted Cruz has jumped right into the fray. So far he is the only senator who has dared challenge the many blatant falsehoods President Obama and many congressional Democrats have been pushing regarding guns, in particular the bogus claim that 40 percent of gun sales are done without background checks.

Unsurprisingly, his willingness to speak out has recently made Cruz a target of the media. While he has come in for a range of attacks from the New York Times, recently Politifact has focused on his statement: “the jurisdictions with the strictest gun-control laws, almost without exception . . . have the highest crime rates and the highest murder rates.” In the last case, they labeled his statement “false.”

Is the “false” rating deserved? In Politifact’s explanation, it becomes more than a little bit obvious that their verdict is seriously strained, not least because they do acknowledge that context clarifies Cruz’s point. When using the term “strictest gun-control laws,” the senator was referring to gun bans (either a ban on handguns or all guns), and he was referring to so-called panel data as the evidence.

This makes a considerable difference — the media’s reliance on merely cross-sectional data leads to many incorrect

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz Statement on Immigration Reform Proposal

Hispanic Senator Ted Cruz won overwhelmingly in a state with a large Hispanic population. He has pleaded the Republicans can win Hispanics by sticking to conservative values and just communicating our values better to Hispanics. He has warned that we not try to compromise our values. The following statement is from Senator Cruz regarding the announced bipartisan Immigration Reform Proposal:

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz Statement on Immigration Reform Proposal

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) issued the following statement regarding today’s bipartisan immigration reform proposal:
I appreciate the good work that senators in both parties have put into trying to fix our broken immigration system. There are some good elements in this proposal, especially increasing the resources and manpower to secure our border and also improving and streamlining legal immigration. However, I have deep concerns with the proposed path to citizenship. To allow those who came here illegally to be placed on such a path is both inconsistent with rule of law and profoundly unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who waited years, if not decades, to come to America legally.

Ted Cruz Defends Gun Rights, says New Gun Control Proposals Are "Unconstitutional"

In an interview with FoxNews, the conservative United States Senator from Texas, Ted Cruz, has called the proposed gun control measures "Unconstitutional."

Cruz said he believes politicians have jumped to exploit the tragedy in Newtown, Conn. to push their own agendas and said he believes the current gun control proposals –including Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein's bill to create a national gun registry– are unconstitutional.

"I don't think the federal government has any business of having a list of law-abiding citizens who choose to their right to keep and bear arms," he said.

The 42-year-old senator suggested improving the federal database to help background checks to better indicate possible mental health of a potential buyer.

Ted Cruz Selected VP of National Republican Senatorial Committee

Texas Senator Elect Ted Cruz has taken the nation by storm. Ted Cruz has proven that you can be a non-compromising super conservative and still be elected in America. Cruz has proven that grassroots campaigns with no establishment backing can still win elections. Cruz has proven that the Tea Party is not dead. Cruz has proven that Hispanics are conservative and are welcomed in the Republican Party. It is hard to prove to Hispanics that the Republican Party is the Party for them because the Liberal Democrats have brainwashed Conservative Hispanics into believing that Republicans are bad. Having another very conservative, Hispanic Leader like Ted Cruz in the Republican Party will help draw Hispanics to the Republican Party and prove that Republican values and Conservative Hispanic Values are one in the same. America sees how great of a leader Ted Cruz can be in the Republican Party and they have wasted no time in selecting Cruz to a top position in the United States Senate.

Sen-Elect Ted Cruz Named to NRSC Post

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Sen-elect Ted Cruz (TX) today responded to being named vice chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). Cruz and co-vice chairman U.S. Sen. Rob Portman (OH) will serve under chairman and U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran (KS).

"I'm honored by this selection," Cruz said. "Our country faces grave fiscal and economic challenges, and I'm very glad to have the opportunity to do everything I can to help retire Harry Reid as Majority Leader. It's critical that Constitutional conservatives have a strong voice within the NRSC so that together we may build upon lessons learned from this election cycle and elect strong candidates who are committed to pro-growth economics and restraining the job-killing growth of the federal government."
