Welfare Pays Bums $30 an Hour, more than People who WORK!

why get a job when welfare pays you better than what you would get if you were employed?

from the Daily Caller:

Looking for a good paying job? Well, look no further.
No, really, stop looking. In 35 states, welfare benefits pay more than a minimum wage job, according to a new study by the libertarian Cato Institute, and in 13 states welfare pays more than $15 per hour.
“One of the single best ways to climb out of poverty is taking a job, but as long as welfare provides a better standard of living than an entry-level job, recipients will continue to choose it over work,” said Michael Tanner, senior policy analyst and co-author of the study

The study is an updated version of one Tanner put out in 1995 that estimated the full value of welfare benefits packages across the states. The 1995 study found that such tax-free welfare benefits greatly exceeded the poverty level and “their dollar value was greater than the amount of take-home income a worker would receive from an entry-level job.”
Despite efforts to curb welfare spending, many welfare programs and benefits have continued to outpace the income that many workers can receive for working an entry-level job, which disincentivizes work, according to the study.
“The current welfare system provides such a high level of benefits that it acts as a disincentive for work,” reads the study. “Welfare currently pays more than a minimum-wage job in 35 states, even after accounting for the Earned Income Tax Credit, and in 13 states it pays more than $15 per hour.”
According to the study, the federal government funds 126 separate programs designed to support low-income earners. Seventy-two of these programs provide cash or in-kind benefits to recipients. This is on top of additional welfare programs operated by state and local governments.
Welfare recipients in Hawaii get the most benefits, according to Tanner, at $29.13 per hour — or $60,590 pre-tax income annually. However, the state’s minimum wage is only $7.25 per hour, according to the Labor Department. Hawaiians on welfare also earn 167 percent of the median salary in the state, which is only $36,275.

Allen West: Will Obama Identify with Black Teens Who Killed White Boy for Fun?

from The Daily Caller:

On the heels of news that three Oklahoma teens allegedly shot and killed an Australian jogger for sport, former Florida Republican Rep. Allen West lashed out at President Obama and the “race industry crew.”
“‘We were bored & decided to kill somebody.’ 3 black teens shoot white jogger.Who will POTUS identify w/this time?” West tweeted Tuesday afternoon with a link to a New York Post article on the matter.

Following the acquittal of shooter George Zimmerman for the murder of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, Obama said that Martin ”could have been me 35 years ago.” Earlier, Obama had said that if he had a son, “he’d look like Trayvon.”
West cast a wider net on Facebook.
“[S]hall we hear anything from the race industry crew, Hollywood elites, or maybe Oprah Winfrey? The issue is not about proliferation of guns in America. This is about a failing black community and the fact that its young men are desensitized to violence because a gangsta culture promotes it,” West wrote on Facebook, reiterating his Twitter question. “So who will President Obama identify with in this case?”
Chancey Allen Luna, 16, and James Francis Edwards Jr., 15, have been charged with first-degree murder in the Friday shooting death of Australian baseball player Chris Lane in Duncan, Oklahoma. Michael Dewayne Jones, 17, is being charged with the use of a vehicle in the discharge of a weapon and accessory after the fact to murder.
Jones told police that the teens killed Lane “for the fun of it” and because they “were bored and decided to kill somebody.”

Texas Merry Christmas Bill Passes! Filed by Senator Robert Nichols and Representative Dwayne Bohac

Back in February 2013 I posted up an article about how my Texas State Senator Robert Nichols filed a "Merry Christmas Bill" that will protect schools and students from getting sued by left wing groups that want to force people to do things like call a Christmas tree a holiday tree because they think saying Christmas Tree in a school is offensive. Texas State Representative Dwayne Bohac originally filed the "Merry Christmas Bill" in the Texas House of Representatives.

Well, the bill passed and will become law very soon.

the following is from the Daily Caller:

After a good amount of hoopla, Texas Governor Rick Perry is expected to quietly sign legislation allowing public schools to celebrate Christmas and other winter holidays plainly and explicitly without fear of lawsuits.
The proposed law, dubbed the “Merry Christmas Bill,” sailed easily through both the Texas House and Senate and now awaits the Perry’s signature, reports the Dallas Observer. Vote tallies were 145-2 in the House and 29-0 in the Senate.
With Perry’s signature, the law will take effect beginning in fall 2013 — roughly 120 shopping days before Christmas.

Texas Passes Drug Testing for Unemployment but not Welfare

Texas has passed legislation requiring drug testing for unemployment benefits. The Texas Senate also passed a bill that would require drug testing for people getting cash benefits from the State for things like welfare, but the leadership of Texas Speaker Joe Straus allowed that bill to be killed in the House before it could even be voted on.

the following article is from Caroline May at the Daily Caller:

The Texas State Legislature approved a bill that would require workers who lose their job to pass a drug screening in order to receive unemployment benefits Saturday, according to news reports.
Under the legislation, which is now awaiting the signature of Gov. Rick Perry, unemployed persons applying for benefits will need to fill out a questionnaire and, if their answers are found to be suspicious, will be required to take a drug test.
Those who pass would be eligible for benefits, while those who fail would not. But if an individual fails the drug test, they have an opportunity to retake the drug test at a later date.

Perry has been a supporter of the proposal. In November, he joined with the sponsor of the legislation, Republican state Sen. Tommy Williams, to also call for drug testing for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) applicants.
“Texas taxpayers will not subsidize or tolerate illegal drug abuse. Every dollar that goes to someone who uses it inappropriately is a dollar that can’t go to a Texan who needs it for housing, child care or medicine,” Perry said.
“Being on drugs makes it much harder to begin the journey to independence, which only assures individuals remain stuck in the terrible cycle of drug abuse and poverty,” he added.
A bill from Republican state Sen. Jane Nelson to require drug testing for TANF failed in the State House earlier in the week, The Texas Tribune reported.

Congressman Stockman: Impeach Obama over Gun Control Executive Orders

My very own Congressman, Steve Stockman, is working had for Texas and America. Congressman Steve Stockman was first elected to Congress in the Republican Revolution of 1994. Stockman beat long-time US Representative icon Jack Brooks. Stockman has not been in Congress for over a decade, but now he is back after winning handily in the new Texas Congressional District 36 in east Texas. Stockman came in with boots on the ground and ready to fight for conservative values.
One of Stockman’s first votes was to not vote for John Boehner as the Speaker of the US House of Representatives because Stockman believes we need a stronger conservative leading the Republican controlled House.
Stockman does not stop there. One of the early bills he has filed is a bill to repeal gun free zones or “killing zones” because they are just places where massacres happen because shooters know that no one has a gun to be able to shoot back to protect themselves.
Knowing that he will likely not get any gun control bills passed through the Republican controlled US House of Representatives, President Barack Obama has made it known that he will use executive orders to enact gun control measures in America.
Congressman Steve Stockman took little time to respond to Obama. Stockman did not try to beat around the bush or play nice or compromise like many Republicans like to do. Congressman Stockman warned Obama that any gun control executive orders that side-step Congress are unconstitutional and would result in Stockman filing for Obama to be IMPEACHED
“I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment,”
The freshman congressman, who served one term in Congress in the mid-1990s, further labeled the possibility “an existential threat to this nation” because, he said, the purpose of the Second Amendment is to allow the people to protect themselves from tyranny.
“Any proposal to abuse executive power and infringe upon gun rights must be repelled with the stiffest legislative force possible,” he added. “Under no circumstances whatsoever may the government take any action that disarms any peaceable person — much less without due process through an executive declaration without a vote of Congress or a ruling of a court.”

He concluded by claiming that an executive order would be not just “not just an attack on the Constitution,” but also an “attack on Americans.”

“If the president is allowed to suspend constitutional rights on his own personal whims, our free republic has effectively ceased to exist,” he said.

Obama Divider in Chief: 2007 Video Shows Obama Racially Charged Speech, Blames Katrina Disaster on Racism

Enough billions of dollars went to New Orleans to be able to pave the streets in Gold.... but Obama says that there was not enough money that went to New Orleans and he says it was because of Racism.... I guess he didn't realize that there were lots of white and even rich people who were killed in New Orleans. He is no uniter... he is the great divider. He is a chip off of the old block of his mentor Jeremiah Wright

from the Daily Caller:

In a video obtained exclusively by The Daily Caller, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama tells an audience of black ministers, including the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, that the U.S. government shortchanged Hurricane Katrina victims because of racism.
“The people down in New Orleans they don’t care about as much!” Obama shouts in the video, which was shot in June of 2007 at Hampton University in Virginia. By contrast, survivors of Sept. 11 and Hurricane Andrew received generous amounts of aid, Obama explains. The reason? Unlike residents of majority-black New Orleans, the federal government considers those victims “part of the American family.”
The racially charged and at times angry speech undermines Obama’s carefully-crafted image as a leader eager to build bridges between ethnic groups. For nearly 40 minutes, using an accent he almost never adopts in public, Obama describes a racist, zero-sum society, in which the white majority profits by exploiting black America. The mostly black audience shouts in agreement. The effect is closer to an Al Sharpton rally than a conventional campaign event.

MSNBC Abandons GOP Convention During Every Speech by a Minority

This is a GREAT article from the Daily Caller.

Apparently, MSNBC does not want Americans to see that there are MANY minority Republican Leaders. This liberal news network seems to have cut away from covering the Republican National Convention when a black or Hispanic leaders were on stage speaking.

In lieu of airing speeches from former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis, a black American; Mia Love, a black candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Utah; and Texas senatorial hopeful Ted Cruz, a Latino American, MSNBC opted to show commentary anchored by Rachel Maddow from Rev. Al Sharpton, Ed Schultz, Chris Matthews, Chris Hayes and Steve Schmidt.

Texas Congressman Ted Poe Calls for Resignation of EPA Official Who wanted to "Crucify" Oil and Gas Producers

Caroline May is really on top of Texas politics. In her latest article on the Daily Caller, Caroline reports on Texas Congressman Ted Poe's call for EPA official Al Armendariz to resign after publicly stating that he wanted to "crucify" oil and gas producers.

“They’d go into a little Turkish town somewhere, they’d find the first five guys they saw and they’d crucify them,” said Armendariz. “And then you know that town was really easy to manage for the next few years. And so you make examples out of people who are in this case not compliant with the law.”

“The comments made by Administrator Armendariz back in 2010 confirm what we’ve known all along: the EPA’s crusade to destroy the oil and gas industry is a politically premeditated effort, not one meant to protect the environment,” Poe said. “Administrator Armendariz’s words reflect his disdain for the oil and gas industry and make clear that his decisions are made without an ounce of impartiality. He should be fired.”

“The oil and gas industry accounts for 9.2 million jobs in the United States. ‘Making examples’ of this field has put American jobs in jeopardy,” Poe added. “Ironically, Mr. Armendariz’s oversees the EPA’s efforts in Texas, which has been hit especially hard. Oil and gas and related industries make up nearly a quarter of the Texas economy. An assault on oil and gas is an assault on Texas.”

Senator Rand Paul Detained by TSA for Refusing a Full Body Pat Down at Airport

According to the Daily Caller, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has been Detained by TSA for Refusing a Full Body Pat Down search at the Nashville Airport. This happened after the Transportation Security Administration Agents demanded that the Senator submit to a pat down search as a result of the Full Body "porno" Scanner mistakenly went off. The Senator refused to be violated by the TSA agents and offered to go through the scanner again. Senator Rand Paul is the son of Congressman and Presidential Candidate Ron Paul.

Last year I wrote an Article that was picked up by Alex Jones Prison Planet and the Drudge Report. The article was about the TSA harassing and grabbing the crotch of a two Texas War Veterans with shrapnel in their bodies.

Congerssman Poe Introduces SEND ACT: Send Veteran Iraq Equipment to Secure US/Mexico Border - 40,000 Killed

from Texas GOP Vote:

Texas Congressman Ted Poe's Statement:
For 10 years, thousands of American troops have fought against terrorism and for the liberation of Iraq. Many have sacrificed their lives on the altar of freedom on behalf of people in a land halfway around the world, leaving their families with the memory of their fallen heroes. Meanwhile, American taxpayers have spent billions of dollars on the military equipment used during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Now, the U.S. is withdrawing from Iraq and thousands of our desert warriors will soon be enthusiastically welcomed home.
The United States is leaving behind a massive amount of military equipment deemed to be too expensive to bring home. Over the past year, 2.4 million pieces of military equipment — worth at least $250 million — have been transferred for free to the Iraqi government, and more gifts are going to be in Baghdad’s Christmas stocking. But some of the modernized pieces of military equipment are coming home to America. The Department of Defense currently facilitates the distribution of this surplus equipment through the Defense Logistics Agency. One place in serious need of security and equipment is our southern border with Mexico.
There is a war raging in Mexico that has claimed the lives of more than 40,000 people since 2006. In 2010, there were more civilian deaths in the town of Ciudad Juarez (just down the road from El Paso, Texas) than in the entire country of Afghanistan. Mexico’s militarized drug cartels are a powerful army complete with narco-tanks, helicopters and a massive stockpile of dangerous weapons. The drug war has destabilized Mexico, yet the administration seems to think that the violence will not reach our citizens. The truth is it already has. Human trafficking and drugs flow north of the border every day. Money and firearms go south over our dangerous and insecure border. The narco-terrorists are fully operational in Mexico and in many major cities in the United States.
Those who say that the border is secure and the violence is contained in Mexico are living in a blissful state of denial far from reality. Case in point: Last week, three SUVs carrying Mexican Zeta cartel soldiers attempted to hijack a tractor truck rig loaded with drugs on a road in Houston and unleashed blazing gunfire. A shootout occurred with police who were tracking the truck. The truck driver was killed; a peace officer was wounded. Three Mexican nationals and another of unknown citizenship were charged with capital murder. Sadly, this brazen violence is a familiar scene on the streets of Mexico. And, now it has become a reality in the United States. The local head of the DEA, Javier Pena, said of the incident in Houston: “We are not going to tolerate these thugs using their weapons like the Wild Wild West.” Until Washington realizes that what happens in Mexico doesn’t stay in Mexico, more cartel shootouts on American streets are coming our way.
Yes, there are towns on the border that are relatively “safe.” But in the vast, wide-open, rugged and desolate regions along the border, between the safer legal ports of entry, the cartels are successfully smuggling illegals and drugs throughout the United States. The loyal local first responders of the southern border are in serious need of modern military equipment and well-trained manpower. Washington officials seem to live in a blissful state of denial about their constitutional responsibility to secure the border and protect our national sovereignty. Since the federal government refuses to give law enforcement officers in the border region the equipment and manpower they need, this equipment should be sent to local and state law enforcement to help stop the aggression against America. It’s time to quickly implement a strategy to defend against this threat to American sovereignty.
In order to respond to this dire situation, I have introduced the Send Equipment for National Defense (SEND) Act. This legislation mandates that the Secretary of Defense send 10% of eligible returning equipment from Iraq to state and local law enforcement agencies for border security purposes. Eligible equipment includes: Humvees, night-vision equipment and surveillance unmanned aerial vehicles. This would be made available to the officials who request it through an already existing DOD program. This is not a new idea. This legislation will simply utilize an existing program, expand it and make resources more readily available to the people who really need it — local and state governments. Washington must utilize all resources to protect America.
This equipment will strengthen the effort to provide intelligence to law enforcement officers so that they can detect and intercept the people and drugs that are compromising the sovereignty of the United States. Night-vision goggles, UAVs and Humvees could be on the front lines of the southern border. Night vision would give state and local officials the ability to see at all times of day. This would greatly enhance their ability to detect unwanted visitors. UAVs have already been a proven asset to border security. Currently there are six UAVs on the southern border (two in Texas). Since 2005, UAVs have been credited with intercepting 7,500 people and over 46,000 pounds of drugs. Using more of this type of equipment could fill in the massive gaps in surveillance of the remote, rugged areas along the border where the cartels roam.
Finally, this bill makes 10% of returning Humvees available to the southern border. On the other side of the Rio Grande River, the drug cartels have well-armed vehicles. Perhaps putting military vehicles in plain sight will make the narco-terrorists think twice before they travel illegally into the United States. This equipment could be a powerful deterrent to keep the bad guys out of America. Texas border sheriffs say Humvees are better than Chevy sedans at chasing down the cartel intruders.
The American people have invested billions of dollars in equipment used to secure Iraq. Now it’s time to use that equipment to secure the United States. The Border Patrol agents are doing the best job they can, but they need help. State and local officials can work with the federal government, defending the international border with Mexico. It’s time that Washington gives them the resources they need to protect Americans from cross-border crime. Sending this equipment to the southern border would give Americans a return on their investment by enhancing our national security.
The United States spends lives and dollars to protect other nations all around the globe, but we refuse to protect our own borders with the same ferocity. Let’s equip border law enforcement officers with the tools that they need to protect the sovereignty of this nation.
