Is This NFL Rookie Player a ‘Muslim Extremist’? Furor and Debate Rage Following Stunning Allegations

preparing for his rookie season with the New York Jets. But rather than putting 100 percent of his focus on getting physically and mentally prepared for the year to come, he’s fielding controversy over his political views surrounding the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The contentious scenario began after FrontPage Magazine, a conservative outlet, published an article entitled, “NY Jets Player Speaks at Extreme Anti-Israel Conference.” The first two paragraphs of the piece wage some pretty hefty allegations against Aboushi, who is a Palestinian-American — mainly that he is a “Muslim extremist.” Here’s how it reads:

Oday Aboushi has been touted as being the first Palestinian-American player in the National Football League (NFL), but his radical behavior since being drafted by the New York Jets less than three months ago could get him sent home early. His latest infraction was made as he gave a speech at a radical Muslim conference sponsored by a group denying Israel’s right to exist and associated with blatantly anti-Semitic and terrorist propaganda.

When the New York Jets chose Offensive Lineman Oday Aboushi in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL draft, they did so because of Aboushi’s athletic skills. It seems, though, that his personal life was not a consideration, at least not enough to stop the team from picking him. Problems in the NFL usually revolve around drugs or alcohol abuse or players being bad influences in the locker rooms. Aboushi’s problem is an unusual one for pro sports. He’s a Muslim extremist.

A Tale of Two Speeches: Obama and Tebow Give Americans a Stark Choice

FRIDAY WAS A DAY OF CONTRASTS.

Earlier that day, I streamed the live broadcast of President Obama addressing Planned Parenthood’s annual gathering in Washington D.C. This smaller, low-profile event in front of a modest gathering of 1000 Planned Parenthood volunteers and supporters, was Obama’s proxy speech given in lieu of the gala’s keynote speech he stepped down from just two days earlier.

While not as prominent, Obama’s early morning remarks were full of the tired euphemisms we’ve come to expect from this, “the most pro-abortion president ever to hold the office.” There was the president’s faux amazement at the crowd’s enthusiastic reception… the promise of continued unwavering support from the White House… the predictable aspersions cast on the prolife community.

What was conspicuously missing from this speech however, was one simple, yet notable word: Abortion.

Despite the fact that last year Planned Parenthood performed a record number 333,964 abortions, generating more than $150 million to this “non-profit” government-subsidized organization, Obama never once mentions it.

Instead he skirts around the weighty issue with gentler nomenclatures like “women’s healthcare” and “reproductive rights.” Obama even throws around the term “pro-choice,” clearly not having received the Planned Parenthood memo from February which announced this word was no longer a part of their lexicon. But hey, for a president who has steadily increased Planned Parenthood’s government funding to record levels of $542 million in 2012, I think America’s largest abortion provider will let his gaffe slide.

It’s hard to imagine a more defiant, arrogant, in-your-face speech than the one Obama gave on Friday morning.

That’s why, when I attended a crisis pregnancy center’s fundraising gala in Dallas that same evening, I was abruptly taken aback by the stark contrast to the earlier day’s event.

Tim Tebow, the celebrated pro-life NFL player, was the featured keynote speaker. Unlike the president, who seemed most comfortable when focusing on the opposition and the embroiled battle for women’s rights, Tebow spoke of ideas like passion, sacrifice and love, life as a gift from God and children as a blessing from His hand.

He challenged the crowd of nearly 1,000 (ironically the same number of attendees that were at Obama’s speech), to give of themselves sacrificially to rescue children from abortion – yes, the same abortion that Obama celebrated just 12 hours earlier at the Planned Parenthood breakfast.

As Tebow shared the familiar story of how his mother refused to abort him, even when the physicians warned her that giving birth would most likely kill her, I was further struck by this irony: Obama was born to an unwed mother, during a time when single motherhood was a scarlet letter. His mother had neither the means nor the family support to ease the burden of raising a baby.

But she defied the cultural sway and chose life. And fifty years later, that same son, President of the United States, rails against Americans who work to rescue babies in the womb, babies facing grim circumstances…just like he once did.

Tim Tebow understands the gift of life he’s been given; he knows that his life could have been terminated. And he uses his platform to draw attention to the plight of the unborn…those just like he once was.

Obama comes from a position of entitlement, where life and success are reserved for the select few, within the boundaries of convenience. He doesn’t speak of passion, or love, or sacrifice. Because in his worldview, these ideas hold no individual power.

Instead he gives credence to rights, choices and battles. These are the weapons in an ideologue’s arsenal.

Yes, last Friday was a day in contrasts. On one side was the unwavering commitment to a future full of more death, more exploited women and more defiance all neatly wrapped in a women’s healthcare package.

On the other side, resides almost a sublime wonderment for life, the intrinsic power of love, and the clarion call to sacrificially help broken women, rescue unborn children, and support scared moms-to-be.

The side America chooses will reveal the heart of our nation.

Tim Tebow – Collin Klein Bill Filed to Allow Home Schoolers to Participate in Texas UIL Sports

We spent the better part of this week in Austin working with legislators on key issues important to the home school community in Texas. A week ago today State Representative Harold Dutton (D) of Houston filed HB 1374, which would allow home school students to participate in UIL activities in the school in whose district they reside.

UIL was created in 1913 for all Texas students. In 1915 eligibility was restricted to white, public school students. According to testimony in the Leeper vs. Arlington ISD case, at this time, 80% of the students in Texas were home schooled. Although minority students were allowed to participate in UIL beginning in 1967, home school students are still excluded.
We are referring to this legislation as the “Tim Tebow bill,” since he was a home schooled student who played with a public school team in Florida and later earned a scholarship to the University of Florida.  Once at the University of Florida, he won a Heisman Trophy in 2007 and now plays in the NFL.
Collin Klein, Heisman Trophy candidate last year from Kansas State in the Big 12, was also a home school student who played football on a public school team in Colorado.
We are very close to having a Senate sponsor for the same language as HB 1374 in the Texas Senate. While a bill has been filed in the Senate (SB 573) that would allow private schools to take part in UIL in a limited way, it does not specifically include home schools.
This bill is essentially the same language as the Arizona law that has been in place in that state for almost ten years. It states that students who live in the district can participate, but students cannot withdraw from a public school and compete as a home school student in the same school year. It also requires parents to assure each reporting period that the student is passing their classes.
This legislation is simply allowing home schoolers the option to compete in UIL activities. Home schoolers in highly populated areas who have access to a well-organized, successful home school league would have less of an incentive to join UIL. On the other hand, home schoolers in rural areas have limited opportunities to compete in athletic sporting events. The UIL legislation would enable such home schoolers to compete in athletic sports that would otherwise be unavailable to them.
We were very pleased with initial discussions with members of both the House Public Education Committee as well as members of the Education Committee in the Texas Senate. Stay tuned as we move forward on what could be a momentous decision by the Texas legislature. This is an issue that THSC has been working on for almost twenty years.
We continue to work diligently to preserve the freedom of Texas parents to home school. The only way we, as home schoolers, can truly keep ourselves free of regulation is to vigilantly oppose any regulation presented every time the Texas legislature is in session. Each legislative session, THSC leads the battle against any regulation of home schooling and parental rights. We would not support this bill if we believed for a moment that it would jeopardize our precious rights.

Gay Rights Activists Bully Tebow, Christian University

Gay rights activists are demanding Tim Tebow back out of a speaking engagement at Liberty University just two weeks after pressuring the New York Jets quarterback to cancel a speaking engagement at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Tebow is expected to speak this weekend at Wildfire – a men’s conference hosted by the conservative Christian university. His remarks will be closed to the general public.
The professional football player is well-known for sharing his faith in Christ – but in recent weeks he’s come under fire from the national media and gay rights activists for speaking in churches that follow biblical teaching.
Huffington Post called Liberty a “notoriously conservative private college with an anti-gay reputation.” And more than 10,000 people have signed a petition launched by Faithful America calling on the quarterback to cancel his speech.
“Liberty University isn’t just another conservative Christian college,” the group stated. “It’s ground-zero for a global assault on the legal rights of gays and lesbians – and a symbol of everything that’s wrong with the religious right.
A Liberty University spokesman refused to comment.
Faithful America said Tebow would give his “Christian faith a bad name” by speaking at the university founded by the late Jerry Falwell.
Several weeks ago Tebow canceled a speaking engagement at the First Baptist Church of Dallas – citing “new information” he had received.
He never elaborated on his comment – but sources close to the church told Fox News he backed out in part over the uproar surrounding the church’s position on traditional marriage – and salvation.
Pastor Robert Jeffress has been an outspoken leader in the nation’s culture wars – affirming from the pulpit traditional marriage and salvation through Jesus Christ.
The national media labeled the pastor as anti-gay and anti-Semitic – charges that were vehemently denied by the church and the many national religious leaders.
“To me, the real issue here is the controversy this has generated,” Jeffress said at the time. “It’s amazing that a church that believes faith alone in Christ is what saves a person and that sex should be between a man and a woman in a marriage relationship – that somehow those beliefs are considered hate speech? That is historic Christian doctrine for the past 2,000 years.”
Right Wing Watch, a publication of People for the American Way, suggested Liberty University was actually more extreme than FBC Dallas and listed a litany of alleged offenses.
They claimed Liberty University bans gay students and shut down its College Democrats chapter over the party’s views on gay rights. They also alleged the university hosted anti-gay conferences and that professors have made anti-gay comments.
Again, the university declined to address the controversy.
“If Jeffress’ anti-gay remarks were too extreme for Tebow, they pale in comparison to the things regularly said by representatives of Liberty University,” Right Wing Watch stated. “Perhaps it is time for Tebow to take another look at some of this ‘new information’ about Liberty.”
Huffington Post wondered if Tebow was giving hints about his position on homosexuality by making an appearance at Liberty.
“Due to Liberty University’s reputation for intolerance toward the LGBT community, some might interpret the athlete’s appearance as a tacit acknowledgement of similar values,” they opined.
Peter LaBarbera, of Americans for Truth About Homsexuality, is urging Liberty University and Tebow to stand firm – and warned that homosexual activists cannot be appeased.
“Their goal is to marginalize and to discredit Christians,” he told American Family News. “If he cancels this appearance at Liberty University under pressure from the gay lobby, I think his credibility is going to suffer a ton.”

Southern Baptists Defend Church Smeared by NBC

The pastor of one of the nation’s most prominent Southern Baptist churches is calling on NBC to retract a column that labeled the congregation as being “virulently anti-gay and anti-Semitic.”

Rick Chandler, an NBC Sports “Off the Bench” writer, smeared the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas and urged Tim Tebow to cancel an upcoming appearance at the church.
“Tim Tebow to speak at virulently anti-gay, anti-Semitic Dallas megachurch,” read the headline on Chandler’s column.
“That’s the church led by pastor Robert Jeffress, a virulently anti-gay and anti-Semitic evangelical Christian,” he wrote. “It seems that lately Tim Tebow has been making more speaking appearances in church than he has quarterback appearances in NFL games.”
Jeffress said the accusations levied by Chandler were based on second and third-hand stories that were filled with inaccuracies.
“I would like NBC Sports to acknowledge that they made an error in their reporting and relied on secondary sources instead of doing their own reporting and fact-finding like any credible news organization ought to,” Jeffress told Fox News. “
Jeffress denied that his 11,000-member church is anti-gay or anti-Semitic.
“Nothing could be further from the truth,” he told Fox News. “We are a very pro-Israel church. To say that Jesus Christ is the only way for a person to be saved is not anti-Semitic.”
The New York Daily News also picked up on Tebow’s upcoming appearance at the church and also slammed the church.
“Tebow’s Hate Date: Tim to Talk at Gay Bash, Anti-Jew pastor’s church,” the headline screamed.
Sing Oldham, a spokesman for the Southern Baptist Convention, said the NBC story was evidence that “it’s open season on those who profess personal faith in Jesus Christ and pattern their lives by biblical morality.”
“Evangelical Christians are treated with contempt and targeted for ridicule,” Oldham told Fox News. “This should come as no surprise. Jesus said, ‘The world will hate you because of My Name.’”
Jeffress said that kind of reporting is why Americans don’t trust journalists.
“This is another example of gross inaccuracies supported by the liberal press with no resemblance to truth whatsoever,” Jeffress said. “This is a part of not just a liberal agenda – but sloppy journalism.”
He said it’s clear the news organizations have no understanding of mainstream evangelical Christian beliefs.
“What I have said about homosexuality going against God’s standard for human sexuality – and about Christ being the only provision for salvation – these are not radical ideas,” he said. “These have been a part of historic Christian faith for 2,000 years.”
But Jeffress ultimately believes the media was really looking for another chance to bash Tebow.
“I think the long knives have been out for Tim for some time,” he said. “This is another way to try to attack him for his Christian beliefs. Most discerning people realize this was an ambush – not of us so much – but of Tim Tebow and the beliefs we hold dear.”
On Sunday the church released the following statement to Fox News:

Texas A&M Aggie Johnny "Football" Manziel First Freshman to Win Heisman? Dan Rather Says Yes!

Dan Rather is Back! Well, sort of.... -

Texan Dan Rather, whose long career as a journalist (that included being the face of CBS 60 Minutes) ended in shame due to a false report about President George W. Bush's National Guard Military service, has endorsed Texas A&M Quarterback Johnny "Football" Manziel for Heisman.

I know, you are scratching your heads right about now. What is Dan Rather doing getting involved in something like this? Maybe he is trying to win back favor from his fellow Texans who were embarrassed that he was from Texas after he was fired for lying about our former Governor and Texan U.S. President Dubya.

Dan Rather endorsed Manziel during an interview with www.TexAgs.com. Dan Rather is a graduate of Sam Houston State University and the interview was done right before the Texas A&M vs. SHSU football game.

The interview did include more than just football talk. My favorite part of the interview was when Dan Rather talked about how he worries about there being a lower standard in journalism due to the digital era and new technologies that get news out on the internet faster than ever before. Yeah, Dan Rather worrying that journalism standards have lowered gave me a chuckle too.

On a different note though, Dan Rather endorsing someone in the Heisman Trophy race is not all that unusual considering the politics behind football. Last year I wrote an article (Texas A&M has Fired Aggie Football Coach Mike Sherman - Will Politics Decide Next Coach?). The article was about how politics and money play huge roles in Football in Texas. Big, influential donors can threaten to stop giving money to a school if the donor thinks the school needs a new football coach. Politics plays a bigger role in football than people think. When Texas A&M was talking about moving from the Big 12 to the SEC, the Texas Legislature called a meeting to discuss the implications of a potential move. Members of Congress have called for investigations into the BCS because it does not have a playoff system and less well known football teams can go undefeated and still miss out on the BCS Bowl money. There is a 4 team playoff coming soon though because of the opposition to a team getting picked as the national champion when there is no playoff to prove who the true best team is out of the top teams. People call the BCS Football National Champion the "Mythical National Champion."

Politics aside, Johnny Football really is the best individual player in College Football, and in the history of College Football for that matter, and therefore he should win the Heisman. Politics has kept the Heisman voters from wanting to pick a Freshman to win the award, but if there is any freshman deserving of winning the Heisman it is Johnny "Football" Manziel.

I am not saying this just because I am a graduate of Texas A&M University. I am saying this because the Johnny "Football" Manziel statistics are just mind blowing, and just think how much more mind blowing his statistics would be if he played full games this year (Manziel sat out for 8 quarters this year to let other Aggie Quarterbacks get some play time in the blowout games!) Move over Vince Young, Texas has a new star! Manziel's ability to make big plays has even led the Aggies to a top 10 BCS ranking, an elite team in the SEC, and a win against #1 Alabama.

Hypocrisy: Obama Aides Owe Back Taxes; Military OK with Burning Church but not Koran? Killing Baby OK, Killing Cat Not?

One of the most frustrating things about politics and living in America is the hypocrisy I see every day. You know, like when some movie star like Sheryl Crow does a “stop global warming tour” telling people to turn off lights to save the world and she herself drives gas guzzling SUV’s and has an air conditioned barn. When Sheryl Crow came to Texas A&M University, I put on a “global warming pool party” outside of the auditorium to draw some attention to the issue so that I could point out the hypocrisy of global warming advocates and also draw attention to the uncertainty surrounding the idea that climate change is man-made.

Of course, probably one of the greatest acts of America hypocrisy is the fact that America is known for fighting to save the world from killers like Adolf Hitler, but America will been seen in the history books as fighting to allow, and committing, the genocide of tens of millions of babies. More killings than than all past genocides in the history of the world combined.

The list of hypocritical things in America can go on and on and on…

36 Obama aides owe $833,000 in back taxes as Obama Bashes the Rich for Not Paying Enough

Yep, that headline is not a joke. Investor’s Business Daily reports that 36 of Obama’s Executive Office Staff owe nearly a million dollars in back taxes. Obama has recently ripped into the rich for not paying enough taxes or not paying their fair share. Hey Obama, your own advisors have not paid their taxes!

Church-Burning Video Used to Promote Atheist Event at Ft. Bragg

Todd Starnes of Fox News reports that a video of a church burning is being used to promote an Anti-Christian, atheist event at Fort Bragg. President Obama and the Military publically condemned a pastor for being hateful, disrespectful, and intolerant for saying he was going to burn a Quran. So making a statement by burning a Koran (not what I would do but free speech allows it) is enough to warrant a statement from the military, but hey, it is cool to have an event on a military base that is being promoted by a video with a church being burned. Did I mention that there is a war against Christianity? For instance, Athens, TX is fighting to keep a Nativity Scene. America wants everyone to be tolerant of everyone else’s beliefs, unless you are a Christian and then it is ok to be intolerant towards your Christian beliefs. Like the Texas student who was suspended for believing that homosexuality is wrong. Or like how two Muslims were praised for practicing their beliefs in the NFL, but Tim Tebow was criticized for talking about Jesus in the NFL.

Texas Teen Kills Her Baby and gets Probation - Texas man going to jail for 6 months for killing a Cat

A teenager in Baytown, TX stuffed toilet paper in the mouth of her newborn baby mouth and then tried to shove the baby down the toilet, killing the baby. A judge gave her probation. The police department was outraged, as they should be. This person killed a baby and she was arrested on capital murder charges, but she just got probation. WOW!

On the flipside, a man in Nacogdoches, TX stomped on a cat and killed it. The man was given 6 months in prison. Look, hurting animals is wrong and should not be accepted, but 6 months in Prison when Child Molesters and Baby Killers do not even get that much time in Prison. Heck, you can kill you baby in Baytown, TX and not even get a day in Prison. We will call in the Navy to save a whale but will not even give a donation to save a starving child. This kind of hypocrisy is the worst and it sickens me to think that animals have become elevated above human life.

Oh, and apparently it is not ok to spank your child in Texas. I am not talking about beating your child because that is wrong. I was spanked as a kid and it was a good thing. Sure, it stings when you get spanked but it stops stinging almost immediately after a spanking on the bottom, and I sure thought twice about doing something like running in the street or putting my hands near the stove. A judge in Corpus Christi, TX took a woman’s child away and gave the woman probation for spanking her child. No bruises, not cuts, no welts, no damage to indicate more than just a simple spanking on the buttocks. The judge went further and told the woman that, "You don't spank children today. In the old days, maybe we got spanked, but there was a different quarrel. You don't spank children. You understand?" So wait, this judge just said that it is never ok to spank your children ever? No wonder why the prison system is getting filled with punk kids who, in many cases, were never disciplined as a child. We might as well ban the verse in the Bible that says “spare the rod, spoil the child.” But hey, this is America right, it is ok to kill millions of unborn babies and even newborn babies, but spank your child and you are in big trouble.

2011: NFL & SNL Criticize Tebow Christianity - 2010: NFL & Obama Support Abdullah’s Muslim Fasting & Faith

2011: Tim Tebow, Quarterback for the Denver Broncos, has been greatly criticized and even mocked by NFL players and the Media/SNL for openly practicing his Christian faith.

2010: Two Muslim NFL players, Husain Abdullah and Hamza Abdullah, do not eat or drink for a month during the daylight on NFL practice and game days, and they take time out in the day to pray. Obama Invites these Muslim players to the White House, players and coaches support their fasting. One coach even fasted with them for a couple of days. SNL doesn’t dare criticize them or the Muslim faith and the Media has highlights their actions in a positive light.

NFL & SNL Allows Mocking and Criticism of Christianity but Would Never Allow Mocking of Muslim Faith

Tim Tebow has been one of the most sensational NFL players this season. He has won several games with last minute heroics. Tebow can sometimes be seen kneeling down on the sideline of a game to say a prayer. This has been called “Tebowing.” Although Tebow publically practices his faith and praises God, he is very humble and has never stated that God is on his side is the reason why the Broncos are winning. Tebow works hard in practice and in games to try to help his team win. Recently, Detroit Lions player Tony Scheffler and Stephen Tulluch kneeled in a game against the Broncos, clearly to mock the prayer that Tebow does. Former Broncos Quarterback Jake Plummer publically stated that he does not like that Tebow publically practices his faith. Saturday Night Live (SNL) recently did a show mocking Christianity and, specifically, Tim Tebow’s public expression of faith. SNL’s skit depicted a fake Jesus telling Tebow to stop openly practicing his faith and to read a football playbook instead of just relying on God to win games for him.

Muslim NFL players, Husain Abdullah and Hamza Abdullah, observe Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting and prayer, every year. They will not eat or drink at all during daylight hours for the entire month of Ramadan. This includes no drinking water during practices and games. Husain Abdullah openly says that Allah is always first before the NFL. He even says that Allah is his nourishment during the day when he does not eat or drink, and also that fasting helped him play better to get drafted. The NFL coaches and players went out of their way to support and encourage these two Muslims openly practicing their faith. The Minnesota Vikings had Husain Abdullah work with the team's nutritionist on a meal and hydration plan. Hamza Abdullah openly encouraged teammates, trainers and coaches to fast with him. Some players agreed to only drink water, and even head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman agreed to fast for a day or two. While Hamza was fasting, Cardinals cornerback Michael Adams told him that he seems like he is really at peace. The Abdullah brothers were even invited to Obama’s Iftar dinner at the White House to celebrate the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Double Standard – Attack on Christianity but Respect for Islam (and fear of violent attacks from Muslims)

What if Detroit Lions player Stephen Tulluch and Tony Scheffler mockingly bowed toward Mecca during a game against the two Muslims? What if fellow players told these Muslims to stop asking them to fast and that they would be better liked if they did not practice their faith. There would be apologies from the NFL and the Liberal Media would blast the players for mocking the Muslim religion.

What if SNL were to do a show where Mohammed told the Abdullah brothers that not drinking water during practice is silly and that Jesus is the real Son of God. What if SNL, whose studio is mere miles from where Muslims killed 3000 Americans, did a skit where these Muslim players were asked to read the football playbook more instead of the Koran, and to stay away from the terrorist playbooks that some Muslims followed when they attached America on 9/11. All Hell would break lose if that happened and Muslims terrorists might even attack the SNL studio like when the Muslim’s rioted when a Danish cartoon simply poked fun at Allah, killing many innocent people.

I do not believe in the Muslim faith. I do not care that these Muslim NFL players practice their faith. That is not my point. I believe that anyone is should be allowed to believe what they want. My point is that it is completely unacceptable for the NFL and the Media to allow the bashing of Tim Tebow for openly practicing his Christianity while at the same time they pander to the Muslim faith and would never allow anyone to be criticized for openly practicing Islam. Heck, SNL has never once poked fun at the Muslim faith at all ever since I can remember, but they sure have poked fun at Christianity.

What if President Obama invited Tim Tebow to the White House this Christmas specifically to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. There would be outrage and cries of Obama to keep church and state separated. It is completely ok though for Obama to celebrate Ramadan with Muslim NFL players. Heck, Obama even gave Osama Bin Laden a proper Muslim Sea Burial but refused to give a proclamation recognizing Easter.

There is a double standard and clear hypocrisy in America. In my opinion, there is even an all-out war against Christianity. Families of dead US Soldiers have to fight to say a prayer at the military burial of their hero sons and daughters. Texas Towns have to fight to be allowed to celebrate Christmas and have Nativity Scenes. The founding fathers of the United States of America are probably rolling in their graves right about now because they openly expressed their (mostly Christian) faith, even more than Tebow or Governor Rick Perry do!

One Last Point: Tim Tebow has never responded negatively to any of the criticisms hurled his way. He is always respectful, even when people are making fun of him. Tebow really does live what he believes and I respect him for it. 

Texas Town Fights for Nativity, Tebow’s Faith Mocked as Perry Vows to End War Against Religion

Rick Perry came out with an ad this week pledging to end Obama’s War Against Religion. This could not have come at a more perfect time. There really is a war against religion in America. The war is specifically against Christianity and not really against all religion in general. For instance, Tim Tebow is a Quarterback in the NFL (Denver Broncos). Tebow openly practices his Christian faith and he was even featured in a pro-life Super Bowl ad last year. When he makes a touchdown he kneels down and says a prayer. This has been called “Tebowing.” Just last week, Detroit Lions player Tony Scheffler made a touchdown against the Broncos, and after he made the touchdown, he kneeled down to mock the prayer that Tebow does. If Tebow was a Muslim and an NFL player were to mock his Muslim prayer then the world would be outraged. There would be apologies from the NFL and the Liberal Media would blast the player who mocked the Muslim religion. Tebow’s Christian prayer was mocked but the NFL and the Liberal media have not said a darn thing. This is hypocrisy. You see, the war against religion in America is really only a war against one type of religion, Christianity.

Texas is getting Full Brunt of These Attacks – Fight over Nativity Scene in Athens, TX

These attacks are not only happening in the liberal northern states. Texas is getting the full brunt of these attacks! Earlier this year, Texas Republican Congressman Culberson stood up and fought the VA and the Obama Administration for restricting Christian Prayers at the funerals of fallen soldiers at the Houston National Cemetery. It was not that many years ago that Ted Cruz (now running for US Senate) fought for the right of the State of Texas to display the Ten Commandments at the State Capitol in Austin, TX. Cruz went all the way to the Supreme Court and won.

Now, just this week, Todd Starnes posted a story on Fox News about an East Texas town that is currently fighting a liberal, anti-religious organization over a Nativity that is being displayed on the lawn of the Henderson County Courthouse in Athens, TX.

These anti-Christian liberals do not care about American history. They do not care about the Constitution nor do they understand the meaning of the First Amendment. They simply hate Christianity and they want to destroy it and remove every mention of Christianity from America. They act as if someone of another faith will not be able to go to the courthouse to get a new vehicle registration simply because of a nativity in the lawn. That Nativity does not restrict anyone of another faith, or someone of no faith. Everyone is offered the same services by the county regardless of their beliefs.  It might “offend” someone who hates Jesus that there is a nativity scene at the courthouse, but the Constitution does not protect anyone from being offended.  This liberal organization attacking the Texas Nativity does not even care about Texas because the organization is in Wisconsin.

This story really hits home for me because my brother in law went to College with Nathan Lorik, the pastor of First Baptist Church in Athens, TX, who is fighting to keep the nativity scene.

Rally to Defend the Traditional Nativity Scene in Athens, TX - December 17th, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the County Courthouse

Lorick, and a group of other pastors in Henderson County, are organizing a large rally to defend the traditional Nativity from an attack by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

“It’s time that Americans stand up and take America back for the faith that we were founded upon,” said Nathan Lorick. “We’re going to stand up and fight for this.”

Henderson County Commissioner Joe Hall called the attack “stupid” and said he’s going to do whatever it takes to stop the atheists.

“I’ll tell you this — I’m going to fight this until hell freezes over,” Hall told Fox News & Commentary. “I hope and pray that we leave it up.”

Urge your Representative to protect the symbols and traditions of Christmas

Representative Doug Lamborn (R-CO), a Member of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, has introduced a resolution (H.Res.489) which expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that the symbols and traditions of Christmas should be protected for use by those who celebrate Christmas.

The resolution specifically points out that the House of Representatives:

(1) recognizes the importance of the symbols and traditions of Christmas;
(2) strongly disapproves of attempts to ban references to Christmas; and
(3) expresses support for the use of these symbols and traditions by those who celebrate Christmas.
