Now we are talking. If this bill from Texas US Senator Ted Cruz passes, we might actually catch the terrorists who attacked the American Embassy in Benghazi, Libya. The United States of America frequently announces million dollar rewards for all kinds of wanted criminals. The most recent reward was created for information leading to the capture of a Mexican Drug Lord. These million dollar rewards work because, well, people like money and will give up information they know for money. So why has the United States NOT already put out a reward for information leading to the capture of the Benghazi terrorists? It is almost as if the Obama administration does not want to find the terrorists because it would expose even more about the botched ""anti Muslim video" cover-up by Obama's administration. WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today introduced legislation to require the Secretary of State to offer a reward of up to $5 million for information on the Benghazi attacks or information that leads to the capture and prosecution of a suspect.

"The State Department's Rewards for Justice Program exists to help the U.S. identify and apprehend its enemies, but the Obama Administration has not used it to pursue the terrorists who attacked our personnel in Benghazi," Cruz said. "This legislation enables the Secretary of State to offer a substantial reward for information leading to the apprehension and prosecution of the suspects who have been identified. U.S. investigators should have all available tools at their disposal to bring to justice those who murdered four Americans in Benghazi, including the first Ambassador killed in service since 1979."

The Rewards for Justice program has been a visible and successful element in the ongoing battle against terrorism. Since 1984, over $125 million has been distributed to more than 80 people.

To date, there has been no reward offered for the Benghazi terrorist suspects under the Rewards for Justice Program. Earlier this week, the State Department announced that they are giving out up to $5 million in exchange for info on drug lords. They did this without any new authorizing or appropriating legislation.

Last year, then-Senator Kerry and Senator Coons offered similar legislation to expand the Rewards for Justice program to help capture Joseph Kony. This bill passed the Senate unanimously and was enacted into law last year.

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz decidedly won the presidential straw poll at the 2013 Values Voter Summit, solidifying his status among religious conservatives.

Cruz, a first-term senator and Tea Party favorite, has emerged as one of the Republican Party and conservative movement’s most dynamic leaders –  highlighted by his effort to defund ObamaCare.

Cruz, who appears to have presidential aspirations, took 42 percent of the vote, with Dr. Ben Carson and former Pennsylvania Sen. and GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum each getting 13 percent.

Though the 2016 race is years off, the annual summit in Washington is considered an early indication of how conservative voters are leaning.

“I just spoke with Senator Cruz and he wanted me to convey to you his deep appreciation for your enthusiastic and … that he was very grateful to know that there are Americans across the country who are standing with him as he stands for your values here in Washington, D.C.,” said Tony Perkins, the head of the Family Research Council,  which is hosting the three-day event, according to The Washington Times.

Sen. Ted Cruz began a talk-a-thon on the Senate Tuesday afternoon and vowed to keep speaking “until I am no longer able to stand” as he tries to halt President Obama’s health care law.
“I rise today to speak for 26 million Texans and 300 million Americans,” Mr. Cruz began.
He took to the floor armed with a big black binder, thick with papers, presumably to read as he talks.
He began at 2:41, and can talk up until noon tomorrow, when under the Senate rules he would have to stop and the Senate would proceed to vote on ending debate and bringing the spending bill to the floor.
The bill right now includes provisions to defund Obamacare, which Mr. Cruz supports, but under the rules Democrats can strip those provisions out with a majority vote. So Mr. Cruz is trying to block the entire bill — including the parts he supports — in protest.

-Looking towards the 2016 Presidential race, Texas voters are a lot more enthusiastic about Ted Cruz than Rick Perry. 27% of Republicans in the state say Cruz would be their top choice for the nomination to 15% for Jeb Bush, 11% for Rand Paul and Chris Christie, and 9% for Paul Ryan. Perry comes in 6th place at 7%, leading only Marco Rubio at 6%, Rick Santorum at 4%, and Bobby Jindal at 3%. While a plurality of Republican primary voters (42/39) want Cruz to run in 2016, an overwhelming majority (18/69) do not want Perry to.

Earlier this week, Texas senator Ted Cruz pledged to block State Department nominees until the federal agency filled the vacant inspector general position. Almost two days later, the State Department nominated Steve Linick for the position, which has been vacant for nearly 2,000 days.

"The President's failure to nominate a State Department Inspector General since taking office in 2009 is unacceptable. The position has been vacant for almost 2,000 days. This is a crucial oversight position and should be a priority for an agency facing substantial management challenges," Cruz said in a statement released Wednesday.
"Until the President acts, I have notified Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell that I will place a hold on all State Department nominations."

Speaking on the Senate floor Thursday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) blasted President Barack Obama over his decision to intervene in Syria and send weapons to rebel forces.

Pointing out the obvious, Cruz warned that there were al-Qaeda elements supporting the rebels in the region. He also brought up reports of severe brutality and crime at the hands of the “rebels.”

“In recent weeks, a training video has been posted on an al-Qaeda website showing young rebel recruits in Syria singing, not only about overthrowing Assad,” Cruz explained, “but also how quote, ‘the World Trade Center was turned into rubble.’”

Cruz said the real goal of the rebel forces is to overthrow the Assad regime and establish and Islamic state.

“These forces are engaged with a deadly struggle with the Assad regime and President Obama has chosen this moment to signal that it is now suddenly in our vital security interests to intervene in Syria,” he said. “It seems far more likely a recipe for disaster.”
The Texas Republican said arming the Syrian rebels with guns and ammunition will only add to the problem.

“Regardless, let me suggest a simple rule,” Cruz said. “Don’t give weapons to people who hate us. Don’t give weapons to people who want to kill us.”

Cruz also took a shot at Obama for not pitching his plan to arm the rebels directly to the American people, instead having a White House spokesperson deliver the news.

Referring to a recent Pew poll, Cruz pointed out that 70 percent of Americans oppose arming rebels in Syria and do not want to get pulled into another conflict overseas.

“In a case where his policy is so at odds with the will of the people, it’s beholden on the President to make his case and persuade us that this proposed intervention is necessary,” Cruz added.

Senator Ted Cruz Gets Death Threats - Texas Man Arrested

A Houston man is accused of threatening to burn U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and his father unless the senator paid him $3 million, according to the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

Nick K. Gates, 37, has been charged with making a terroristic threat, a third-degree felony, court records show. He was being held Tuesday at the Harris County Jail under a $10,000 bail.

An intern at Cruz's Austin office told investigators that a man called the office on June 5, saying that Cruz "owed him money or a bomb would explode," according to an arrest warrant filed in the case. The man, who identified himself as Abolfazi Akbori, called again the same day after the office had closed and left a threatening message on the office's voicemail system.

Another phone message was left at Cruz's San Antonio office containing threats that the caller "would kidnap, murder, and burn Ted Cruz and his father," the arrest warrant states.

The message states, "Ted has a choice. Give me three million dollars or lose the sun." The caller said that "due to government misconduct the sun would blow up and said he might be able to prevent the sun from blowing up if he receives three million dollars," according to the arrest warrant.

It didn't take long for investigators to track down Gates, who allegedly made the threatening calls from his home telephone.

An influential Iowa conservative predicts Sen. Ted Cruz would catapult to the top of the field of potential GOP nominees if he runs for president in 2016. Bob Van der Plaats, head of the social-conservative group Family Leader, says voters on the GOP’s right flank will be looking to coalesce around a strongly conservative nominee. He says Cruz could be that candidate.

“In my opinion, if the caucuses were being held today and you threw in all the potentials … Cruz would be at the top of the list immediately,” Van der Plaats said in an interview. The Texas Republican has only been in the U.S. Senate since January, but Cruz has made headlines as an outspoken critic of the Obama administration, a tea party conservative on fiscal issues, opponent of gun control and adversary of bipartisan immigration efforts that includes a path to citizenship.
Van der Plaats says that’s music to the ears of social conservatives in the first-caucus state that launches the presidential nominating season. “If he wants to do this, I think the door is going to be open,” said Van der Plaats. “People are so thirsty for leadership today, so thirsty for somebody who’s going to be authentic and credible and be what they are – and that’s what they’re seeing in Cruz. So although he’s only served in the Senate a short amount of time, they’re willing to jump in for Cruz.”
Cruz says he’s focused on the Senate, not a future run for president. But there are indications from people around Cruz that he’s considering the idea.

Texas senator and rising Republican star Ted Cruz received some praise Sunday from an unlikely quarter – former Clinton adviser and Democratic political analyst James Carville.

Appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” Carville described the Republican in terms he doesn’t normally lavish even on Democrats.

“I think he is the most talented and fearless Republican politician I’ve seen in the last 30 years,” Carville said. “I further think that he’s going to run for president and he is going to create something. I’m not sitting here saying he’s going to win, and I think Senator DeMint is right. I’ve listened to excerpts of his speech in South Carolina. He touches every button, and this guy has no fear. He just keeps plowing ahead. And he is going to be something to watch.”

Carville said Cruz was just what hardcore conservatives need right now: a candidate who isn’t, to borrow Cruz’s own controversial word, “squishy.”

“And a lot of Republicans feel this way, George, and you hear this a lot,” Carville said to moderator George Stephanopoulos, himself a former Clinton adviser, too. “’If we only got someone who was articulate and was for what we were for, we would win elections. And we get these John McCains and these Mitt Romneys and these squishy guys that can’t do anything.’ Well, there’s one thing this guy is not - he ain’t squishy, not in the least.”

Carville continued, predicting a very rough battle ahead for possible 2016 candidates Sens. Marco Rubio and Rand Paul. 

“Ted Cruz is going to eat their lunch,” Carville said. “That guy, I’m telling you, he will out debate. I am just saying, he is a talent. I’m not rooting. I’m really sincere here. We watch him, he does things, I mean when he started talking about William Travis in South Carolina and the Alamo, this is a guy, and you go, ‘This guy is something.’ 

"Now I don’t agree with him. I think he’s out there. But I’m telling you, he’s more talented than all of these other guys.”

David Letterman Calls Sen. Ted Cruz a 'Stooge' For Opposing Gun Control

The April 24 edition of The Late Show With David Letterman saw the CBS talker label Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) the "Stooge of the Night" for voting "no on gun control reform."

Letterman then put a photograph of Cruz up on full screen and suggested those rascals at Gun Owners of America and the National Association for Gun Rights purchased Cruz's loyalty with $14,000.
With the photograph still up, he made fun of Cruz's hair and suggested we perform a background check on the Senator's barber.
In short, he tried to make Cruz look like some hick from down there in Texas who really doesn't understand the complexity of the issues at hand.
None of this was funny. But what was comical was knowing Letterman was a "self-described average student" at Ball State University, and that he only went there because he couldn't make good enough grades to get into Indiana University, which was his first choice.
Meanwhile, Sen. Cruz graduated from Princeton with honors, went to Harvard Law School, was "a primary editor of the Harvard Law Review," was an attorney in a Houston law firm that was one of the nation's largest, was the Solicitor General of Texas, was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law, and was an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice, among other accomplishments.
It's kinda weird that Letterman would be laughing at Cruz, isn't it?

Yesterday, Senator Cruz sent a letter to two major banks that are being bullied by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel over working with gun manufacturers. Senator Cruz invited the banks to move their business to Texas and urged Mayor Emanuel to keep his radical gun control north of the Red River.

"You know, Chuck said a minute ago the assault weapons ban was tremendously successful. The assault weapons ban was one of the least successful bills that has ever been put in place. And in fact, when the ban expired there were roughly 700 murders using all rifles. Today there are roughly 300. There are less than half. This is not designed to actually solve the problem of violent crime, this is designed to assuage liberal partisans who want to push gun control."

9:34 – No Budget

"There is no doubt the Senate hasn’t done its job. It’s been nearly four years since it’s passed a budget and the Senate should pass a budget…We have a crisis. I’ll tell ya, I just got back last week from Afghanistan, and I had multiple service men and women clasp me on the arm and say, “Please do something about the debt a deficit.
